Outside incentives don't exist in a zero sum meritocracy like poker:)

I agree most women don't play poker, thus there's no need to change the game to make people like a game they don't like lol. Go for a girls night and then come back home and learn poker with the people who will challenge you the most at the game regardless of their gender.

For there to be a female world chess champion I believe they are going to have to had played with the men (or boys) from the beginning. Not totally the same given there's luck in poker but I think the overall point stands.

Have a ladies night playing poker or play poker and then have your ladies night, The casino is hallowed grounds, no favourites, no biases only winners, losers and those who think even the live games are rigged.

God Bless

EDS
So your wife won't let you play, huh? I would be bitter too :ROFLMAO:

Since it was a women's tournament, the organizers should have rejected his application and banned him from participating from the beginning. But if the organizers accepted him, it was because they ignored their own rules or something. Rules are there to be followed. Whoever let him participate is to blame, since it was a competition between women.

If you are looking for further details on this story re: David Hughes having entered a WPT Ladies Event at Seminole Hard Rock, CardsChat contributor, Daniel Smyth gives us the story linked below.

David Hughes Wins WPT Seminole Ladies Event, Twitter Reacts

Apparently, the organization of the tournament has violated Florida State Law, which regulates that casino employees cannot prevent men from participating only in events for women. Man's participation was within the law, which is greater than the tournament rule. This is a fact!

However, for those who believe, of course, there is a biblical passage of St. Paul that says "everything is lawful but not everything is convenient for me" (1 Corinthians 6:12). Without wanting to be moralistic, man's attitude may not have been right, but he was not wrong either. Complicated that.

I don't get it. In college and high school sports, the boys and girls play on separate teams. Pro tennis players and golfers play only against their own sex...notwithstanding Billie Jean King beating the crap out of Bobby Riggs...why would there be a law that allows men to play in a Ladies' poker tournament? Sounds ridiculous.
This guy has major issues...and if he thinks that playing against women makes for easy pickin's, he should sit down with Vanessa Selbst, Maria Ho, Jennifer Harman, Debi O'Neill and many more lady players who would clean his clock.

In the United States that law is the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It prohibits a public accommodation from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), and national origin.
Sounds ridiculous.

My guess is that he was either being a wise guy and busting chops, or he was trying to make some sort of political statement.

Well, I think that if you have the title you have it should be respected. In addition, there are many tournaments that are not so specific in which you can register

Are there only tournaments for men? Now! Women can play against men in these tournaments! My opinion is that women's tournaments should not be held because it means that you underestimate women and their power to play alongside men! and I don't see why? And if there are women's tournaments, men don't have to be accepted! Poker is poker and it doesn't matter the muscles.

If the game is only for women, it's super wrong of men to want to take advantage, to play. It is essential to respect the rules. And trans people can play for women, straight men can't.

Unbelievable for a man to play in a women's tournament in person and still receive chips for being the only man. I thought it was an online tournament when I saw the title of the post.

About ten years ago, I was playing in a ladies’ tournament at a local casino, and two men decided to join “just to prove a point.” 🙄
They said it wasn’t fair that women had their own event, so they registered anyway — technically, the rules didn’t stop them.
At first, everyone tried to stay polite, but the mood completely changed. Some women were uncomfortable, others just laughed it off. One of the guys even made jokes during hands, like he was there for attention more than poker.
Funny enough, neither of them made it to the final table. Both busted early, while one of the quieter women ended up winning the whole thing. 😎
That day showed me exactly why ladies’ tournaments still matter — not because women can’t compete with men, but because sometimes we just want to play without having to deal with that kind of energy.

I think, it require a fairly special mentality to register to a ladies event as a guy. And while I guess, its kind of funny, he actually won this one, its not really good for poker, that he did it. But with that being said I think, legislation is also to blame here. If a casino wants to run a poker tournament for only people above 65 years of age, is that then also not allowed? And why? Senior competitions are completely normal in sport, as is of course same sex competitions. So for me this is taking the fight against discrimination to far.
It used to be woman's sports was kept separate from men's until the trans agenda came into it abusing the laws. We are still in the fight but the tide is starting to turn, lea Thomas was stripped of her titles she won or stolen in woman's swimming. I read this and haven't verified it yet so I could be wrong !

Men shouldn't be competing in woman's sports but is this a sport? It's a competition? So IDK what to say.

Kind of defeats the purpose, woman only tournament but men can play? Imo, no men allowed period! To bad if you don't like it, sometimes life isn't fair but don't add to it. What a jerk... Why was he allowed to play? 🤬
He was allowed to play because The Civil Rights Act of 1964.prohibits a public accommodation from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), and national origin. casinos and commercial cardrooms are public accommodations the same as restaurants, stores, hotels, etc..., and thus they fall under that law.

The records she set at U Penn have been removed by the school under an agreement they made with the government. To the best of my knowledge her results in NCAA events are still in place.
