PokerStars have just announced on their Facebook page, that they are suspending all services in Russia. No reason is given, but for sure this must be connected to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Some forum members including myself have called for this move for quite some time already, so I am happy to see, that PokerStars is finally doing, what many other international companies have already done.
Wonder if you'd write that same post if you'd live in Russia.

Terrible situation for everyone living in Ukraine and Russia as well (except for the russians who support the invasion, of course).

'd rather have friends in all countries who play with me, curse me for bads, praise me for good plays and talk to me via chat, than having this stupid war ending innocent families, dialogue is always the best solution.

Don't buy the thought Russian people are not complicit in this, they seen the build up of troops, they know Putin lies as much as he breaths , they have family there , the fact is if enough of them took to the streets and actually protested in the 10's of thousands it would be over in a blink, either they take him out or eventually were all in it, Putin has no way out and he knows it,to the Russian people ,Putin has condemed you to years and years of sanctions , all these countries that needed your oil and gas will find other solutions , the lasting stain on Russia will never go away,1 man did this to your country and for you to sit there and claim poor old Russia, you have nobody to blame but yourselves, you put him there its up to you to take him out, if we end up in WW3 its all on Russia, they invaded and committed 100's of war crimes, Russia threatened using nuclear weapons nobody else, people need to quit trying to make excuse's for Russia, they are the only aggressor everything else is just a lie no matter how you try to slice it

Excellent, let's hope ACR and all the other casino sites do so too.
We must bring to the attention of the ordinary Russian citizens how disgusted the rest of the world is with their leaders behavior.

Personally, I would've liked it better if the poker industry stayed out of political conflicts, but military invasion calls for action from everyone on the planet. The question is what kind of action.
Now, does PS action means that Russian players are banned ? If it's the case, then there is some injustice there too. Aren't there any other ways to support the war victims (Whoever they might be) without having some innocent people pay for it ?

When you push an egomaniac this is what you get...But, Russia is hardly the only country with this problem when it comes to politics and war, Not all Russians approve I am sure, just as I am sure not all americans approved of trumps antics.

I believe that they have their own reasons to make the lives of a Russian hard in order for them to protest against their own government to end this war, although I disagree to affect the people when the government sometimes does not represent them... Anyways I hope this is all over soon...

But what does the population has to do with it?

It doesn't mean that cause the government declares war the people agrees with it.

It does not seem to me a very wise decision, those who play poker in Russia are the people, not the government, the people always pay the consequences of bad governments.

In some countries, 'the people' are the government

And what do Russian players have to do with the war?????
And if they do, which I consider to be a very bad decision, it would be good with all the countries that make war, mainly the US allies.

PokerStars have not pulled out of Belarus, and international sanctions against Belarus are also more limited. Belarus is not directly involved in the war but has allowed Russian troops passage and is an ally of Russia. It soldiers from Belarus start actively fighting in Ukraine, we might see this change. As for players from Ukraine, the war does not really affect the western part of the country yet. So I suppose most of them are from there.

I think they might be worried about people using the site to transfer funds, etc as well as supporting Ukraine.
Also, many of the Ukrainians playing might be playing from other countries they're in atm. If I'm visiting my brother in the US and sign in, it still says I'm Canadian..

As little or much as russian turists, who find themselfes stranded abroad unable to use their credit cards or catch a flight home. Or russians affected in any other way by the sanctions. But losing a poker bankroll or having your credit card blocked is still not nearly as bad as having to flee your home, because it has been bombed to rubble by an invading army.

Any and every move made to isolate Russia and put pressure on Putin over time is a good thing. It must be done in my opinion.

right! we Russians believe that there should be more sanctions! It is necessary that not a single foreign company remains in Russia! We believe that it is necessary to stop any supplies of any goods from Russia. Especially to America)) We need to raise our economy, not yours)))

I think some actions against Russia due to this war are fair. But what kind of benefit can the PokerStar boycott bring? Perhaps pressure from the Russian people? Do you think this intimidates Putin? I personally find this difficult!
