Americas Card Room (ACR) No Longer Compatible with Windows 8

ACR, with their new software update decided to screw over a whole bunch of players. ACR software is no longer compatible with Windows 8. Does anyone know which version of Windows is now compatible? They weren't smart enough to put the answer on their website.

The latest ACR (WPN) poker client only works with Windows 10\11. The latest poker client eliminated support for Windows 7\8. I understand the frustration since I was using an old workstation running Windows 7 for the poker sites. I had more ACR grind to Windows 10 laptop. I would agree that WPN should be given advance notice (at least 2 to 3 months) on their website, via X (Twitter) or via email regarding discontinuing support for compatible WIndows 7/8 poker client.

Thanks for the information. I figured was probably going to have to upgrade to windows 10.

There is no cheating here.
Technologies are coming in front and everything will work beautifully for you if you install Windows 10 or higher. A lot of programs eventually become incompatible with Windows 7 and 8.

The guys have done a great job of creating cleaner games - without fraud. The update has given us a new era - ACR Poker Reshuffle.
This new study will help to eliminate attempts at collusion at the poker tables to some extent. This is currently available for PLO 4 and PLO 5 games, but in the future we hope it will be applied to the rest of the games. At the moment, you can find such tables by the lock icon to the left of the name.

This is good information to know. I'm an average player and have played for fun over the last couple decades. Have been in more than a few hands on ACR where something seems off.

Are your getting a message which reads.. the procedure entry point DiscardVirtualMemory could not be located in the dynamic link library c:\AcrPoker\ACRPoker.exe this is what is happening to me with an update to Windows 8.1. Haven't installed Windows 10 yet.

No, the new update is only compatible with higher versions, they have changed the design a lot and are heavier.

I won't argue with you, but this update was only 5% related to the design. The purpose of the update was to introduce new technologies into the game. You may have been referring to previous updates, but that was already half a year ago.

Thats what I get on my old laptop with windows 8. On the desktop it goes through update process and gets to 100 percent but then the poker room never appears.

Same with me. I'm going to load windows 10 today and see what happens.

Some companies don't want to do Updates for Windows 7 or 8 so maybe it's time to upgrade to Windows 10 or a new computer with Windows 11.

they should try to inform customers long before they take the decisions to discontinue technical support and software compatibility for windows 8 , or anything else they decide to do . playing everyday and suddenly not being able to do so because of this upgrade of software by ACR , that sucks , i can understand whoever got affected by this change . they want to compete with the poker giants , they should try more .

Why isn't the ACR software checking the windos version when being installed telling it is not compatible with the running windows version and suspend the installation?
I just downloaded it and it's not running on windows 8.

Why do I need to google that problem?

You would think they want as many cutomers as possible, so should support as many of them as possible, even if running old computers.
I guess they figured they didn't mind losing Window 7/8 customers, maybe they don't have that many anyway.

Well yeah they want as many as possible... but if you were running a business would you hold back on development for a few 12 year old windows customers, I don't think I would,
.... there's lots of ways to play that are less expensive than a new computer anyway👍

Windows 8 came out not really that long ago. I bet its not that much more than 10 years ago. I could maybe maybe understand them doing something so windows xp wouldn't work but windows 8? That's just so awful.

As a former it guy, it is very expensive to support old software versions. I am sure their tracking software is aware of customer browser versions and they removed support for 7/8 when customer traffic dropped below a certain percentage.

Things on ACR have changed a lot in a year and nothing for the better. A year ago there were tons of special streamer freerolls with 1000 dollar bounties and lots of money to be won with no risk. Now you can't even play a spin and go with less than a 5 dollar buy in. My computers are too old and I can't get ACR on them so every once in awhile I log on with my phone but I see most of the private freerolls like texas holdem radio do not even show up on mobile. I tried to get my money out but that didn't work either. Apparently I hadn't produced enough rake for their liking.
