I’ve been a loyal Pokerstars client since day 1 but lately I have grown fond of GG poker. They have been upping their game in more ways than one . What does everyone think? Do you prefer GG or PS?

Hi,
I play on PS and was strongly considering moving to GG myself.
I wondered if you thought there was a skill difference between the sites?
I get the feeling GG would be softer, but wondered if you could confirm 1 way or the other?

Pokerstars has more variety of tournaments and has the option to play SNG, while GGpoker does not

I do not think poker sites stand up to direct comparison as such.

I play five sites and this includes PS and GG. PokerStars has been irritating because of the Aurora graphics engine but their web site overall remains the best deigned - the lobby by far the most legible and easiest to navigate for example.

GG is a pleasure to play, very clean graphics but has a lot of juvenile things going on with the emojis and throwables etc. It always fees like it is targeting a teenage boy mentality....

That said you have horror shows such as Unibet where from a graphic design point of view it would be hard to re-create such an ugly looking place to play. 888 is a little cleaner to use (yet another dreadful lobby) with ACR making a fairly decent hash of things.

As for GG, it is quite obvious they want to promote to casual players- perhaps that makes it good for softer games- but the downside as I said is tends to feel a little juvenile.

Not sure how much I would put into this though. PokerStars automatically log out players, when they have been inactive for a certain amount of time. If GG Poker does not do that, or do it much later, that will result in GG Poker having more players online, but some of them are not actually playing. I feel, cash game activity is a better indicator, and that number is still 50% higher on PokerStars vs. GG Poker over the past 7 days.

In top of that some people might also be playing play money games, penny games or freerolls, which generate no or very little revenue. Not sure if this would favour one site or the other. But what really matter is revenue generated, and to get those numbers we would need to look into financial statements :)

In particular GG Poker is not the best site to play tournaments, if you want to get some cheap practice and/or build up a bankroll from a small deposit. They have nothing below 2,2$ PKOs, and only a few of these run every day. For regular tournaments without bounties they have nothing below 5,5$. For me as a somewhat seasoned player this would be fine, but if you are new to the game, you might end up losing quite a bit of money, before you find out, if you are beating these games or not. So GG Poker is definitely not the most beginner friendly site :)

if you play micro MTT then you have nothing to look for on ggpoker.
their offer is desperate.
I think that the number of players on ggpoker is very questionable, I doubt that they have half as many players as there are PS.

Maybe during the time you play. But I have a few 1.10 PKO and lots of sub $5 MTTs during the day. During my evening though, the matches do get a bit thin. It is aimed at the Asia market - but hits european day perfectly.

What's stopping you from playing in both poker rooms ??? I make my choice based on my preferences regarding a particular tournament, not a poker room !!!

If I had to chose, I would pick Pokerstars for a number of reasons. Although if PS proceeds on moving the same route, they've picked recently, this choice might not be that obvious.

Honestly the game offerings at GG and the high rake just make it a miserable experience for me, My win rates are also much higher on zoom vs RnC and level of play is a little better. (plus or a minus depending who you ask) Not really agreeing with the moves stars is taking as of lately though, I have to delete my imgcache everytime i want to play if i dont want the aurora graphic engine bogging my cpu down.

I decided to download and give them a try and am sure glad I did.
Both the desktop and mobile clients are a pleasure to play on.
It took less than an hour to get verified and make a first deposit and other than the fact that I had a few drinks and ended up playing cash tables so lost a few$$$ I suck at cash games even when I am sober lol
The only thing I am not a fan of is the slow roll of the river card, it’s really annoying to me. Anybody know if this can be disabled?
Oh and having to look at Dnegs dressed as Uncle Sam when you open the client is dumb especially since Americans can’t play there.

That's exactly what I was thinking earlier today,I think it's better so far in most games, I just miss SnG, it seems that the withdrawal processing time is also worse than that of Stars (much worse), but yet i am inclined to "migrate"

I cant actually play on GG Poker due to my location (Sweden), so I have only gotten as far as to look at their european homepage. And maybe it does not display all the tournaments, or it could even be, that european players are not allowed entry into the same tournaments as asian players.

I've withdrawn twice using BTC - both times took between 24 - 48 hrs. Same for me as ACR.

The daily free spin + more options + insurance. They have a lot of things setting them apart. But PokerStars will always have that nostalgia factor.

Cant even play in GG Poker (although some of our local online poker sites do use their network) so answer to that question is pretty simple :bebored:

....and GG just signed Dan Bilzerian as an ambassador. Is there a more douchey fraudster in poker?

I presume that GG thinks its base will be unaware that Bilzerian, apart from being on perma-conman mode, just managed to run through at least fifty million of investors money in the company Ignite as he used the funds to support his personal lifestyle (the rented mega mansion etc. which never belonged to him). The funds have completely evaporated after a year and a half leaving the company bankrupt...

I noted GG was great software to play but juvenile in tone and felt aimed at teenage boys. Well, I believe Bilzerian's social media following is mostly teenage boys so I suppose its a good fit...

What a laughably bad choice on GGs behalf...
