Can any of the HUD's keep up with Rush?

If you play rush PAHUD is useless.

do you get penalized for playing slower? either by being involved in more hands or sitting out to watch the hand play out?or having a slower connection?

if the person at the table with the longest time since posting a big blind has to post the big blind ...doesnt the whole point of the game revolve around playing faster than the other players?

does anyone have stats on how many bb's and sb's they have posted?

Longest time in posting the BB means most hands played since last had the BB. Not how long as it relates to time.

It seems really good for people who don't like to pay attention and/or don't use a HUD. The type of people who play while they're watching TV and only glance over to fold or play a hand are the type of people who this really will appeal to, for 2 main reasons:

1. It is really geared towards those with a short attention span.

2. Having a short attention span is less of a disadvantage in this format than at a regular poker table. So what if you never pay attention unless you're in a hand, nobody else at the table does (or can) either.

Oh come on weed. ;)

There are a few stock ways people react to a new thing the don't really understand.

Here are a couple classics:

"It's Magic!!"
"I hate it!"

But yours is just as common:

"It's stupid!"

This is a new format of poker. There will be viable strategies, and counter strategies. (already are actually) There will be tools and videos and maybe even a book one day.

Read you response once more... I'll sum up what you actually just said:

People who don't pay attention will have an advantage.

Tee hee. :)

When did I say it was stupid? Maybe YOU should read my post once more. I never said people who don't pay attention will have an advantage. I said they don't have as much of a disadvantage as at a regular poker table. There's a big difference.

OK... I will rephrase my critique of your statement.

I think on the surface saying Rush poker is "geared towards those with a short attention span" in the context that they could be watching TV while they play seems like a reasonable idea, but in reality it is craziness.

Have you played much Rush? I have played some 7-8k hands of it. And have found I cannot be distracted in the slightest. I have to stay focused on the table and the dynamics of the game pretty much constantly.

What position am I in this hand?
Do I recognize any of these players? Do I have notes?
What action has taken place before me?
Who is left to bet?
What cards do I have?

And I would argue saying
people who don't pay attention... ... don't have as much of a disadvantage as at a regular poker table
is functionally the same as saying they have a greater edge at Rush tables.

I think not paying attention is a good way to lose at pretty much any poker table.

Over time the people with the best strategy will be winners at this game just like all the others.

I am willing to bet "paying attention" is a basic requirement of any good strategy.

I did not mean to be offensive in my original response.

I really like Rush Poker so far.

At first I started buying in for $10, but then I lost a couple buyins and quickly went on tilt. The high speed of play definitely rivals multitabling, so the tilt factor can be a bit much. (Esp. since I don't multi-table much.)

It's not entirely true that you can't get reads though. The most important thing for me, is noting who will give up their blinds without a fight, and who will re-raise you/mess around with you on the flop. If someone folds their BB for a minraise, it's a good sign you can attack them next time you see them. You can win a lot of easy pots minraising atc vs the right BBs.

Also I've started buying in for $5 instead of $10, and I find that people will stack off to me a lot lighter, yet I still get a lot of (too much) respect from my raises pre-flop. So I seem to get the best of both worlds. It's also really good for scouting players, because even in one hand, you can tell a lot about a player:

Folds SB to no raise? Probably a pretty tight player.
Folds BB to a min raise? Probably playing too tight.
Button raise? Probably a fairly agressive player.

I mean obviously it is not as reliable as a couple hundred hands worth of tracking software, but I find that 8 times out of 10 your initial reaction is pretty spot on. And 8 out of 10 in poker is pretty darn good.

Can anyone gotten the Rush Poker HEM hud to work? I downloaded a new version of HEM yesterday and was trying to figure it out, but I couldn't get the hud to popup while playing Rush.

Well I just experienced something that I never have so far in Rush Poker. I've played about 9000+ hands in 10NL so far and have made some profit, but I just finished a session that I was tempted to continue (but couldn't because I have an early morning) because I got pocket aces a total of 9 times in 382 hands. :D

I didn't win all of those hands and I made mistakes with some of them but I couldn't believe how many I got! Oh yeah, I ran into a set 3 times before seeing 100 hands to begin the session too. Weird but fun session!

I got another popup offering me $5 to try it. They gave me a few days to earn my 10 FTPs, but it only took about 20 minutes, even at the lowest stakes. I played about 500 hands total and ended up a few bucks. I'm not sure if I liked it, but it certainly had an addictive feel to it.

Since I don't play cash games, I didn't really know what to expect. I lost a few hands to suckouts, traps, and big bets that I decided not to test. Considering I couldn't get anyone to bite "much" on the hands I had the nuts and couldn't catch a flush or straight to save my life, I was pretty fortunate to be up at all.

Interesting experiment, I nothing else.

different strategy for playing 5nl rush as opposed to 10nl rush, buying in for full amount. Discuss?

I'd have thought you'd want to buy in max all the time anyway. I don't start having fun until I get to 150 bbs so I can look to play deep stacked against players who know even less than I do about playing deep.

Edit: Oh, maybe that wasn't your question, maybe you just meant assuming a max buyin in both cases.

Rush was fun for a little bit but I do better at SNG's and went back to playing those.

The speed of it puts me into a gotta hit mode instead of a patience mode.

I'd rather have a couple regular speed tables open to get the same hands pr hour as rush.

I think rusk poker is on, you can either win or loose money really fast on it. it is great for building FTP and rakeback. The game play is more erratic and many people auto fold. It is a matter of time before they come up with a heads up one. that should be fun.

I tried max buy-in at 5nl, and $5 buy-in at 10nl simultaneously, and done better with the 10nl game, as people were callling my raises more as I was shortstacked. Anyway, I took it to $15, and then went to 25nl, ran it up to $25, and took it to 50nl, went back down to $20, and quit, $15 up, and lots of ftps.
