Hello poker family.
This post is only my opinion about the Pokerstars room. In no case do I urge you to leave this room, and even more so I do not set you against it. I'm just telling you why I've become less likely to play at Pokerstars, and why I'm not liking it anymore. Of course, each player has his own preferences for the room, up to likes or dislikes. But I will name 4 reasons that clearly do not play in favor of the stars)

#1 The field is very strong

Pokerstars is a very popular room and has the highest concentration of players on the web. You don't have to think that all the regulars play for high stakes. Simply no. There are many players who have carved their niche at the low and mid stakes. If in other rooms it is enough to have up to 50 buy-ins per limit. Pokerstars needs 100 or even 200 buy-ins. The chances of winning here are much lower. You will meet very serious opponents, all sharks. No one will give you victory, everyone will fight to the last blind. If you get shoved, be sure - the hand is very strong.

#2 Number of players in tournaments

A large schedule of tournaments and the popularity of this room create the highest variance in the fight for prizes. At Pokerstars, at any tournaments, players are registered much more than in other rooms. This is especially true for low limits. Several thousand very strong players will almost always play against you. It is necessary to prepare for the fact that the session will be very long. You will get more tired, which means there will be more stupid mistakes. I'm not saying that it will always be like this, but it will be much more difficult to maintain concentration.

#3 Freerolls

Of course, at Pokerstars they go throughout the day. The problem is that the prizes are very difficult to get. The starting stack is usually only 12 blinds, the structure is very fast, and there are over a thousand people playing against you. Difficulty also starts with the number of seats. Sometimes there are only 2 tickets. It seems to me that it would be better to hold freerolls only a few times a day, but to play more tickets)

#4 Rake and rakeback

The rake at Pokerstars, starting from low limits, can be higher than that of competing rooms. The rakeback here is also significantly lower than in other rooms. The difference can be only up to 5% in some places, nevertheless it is present. I'm not saying that this is a weighty argument, but still I decided to add it.

I so wish I could play on Pokerstars, I'm sure you have many great choices but the choices for players in the US are very slim. I seem to recall there being a lot of great sit n go's and a massive amount of cash games as well as a lot of different tournaments to choose from there!

Hi nerobs,

All of your points are more or less valid but there's always a workaround on them:

#2 Number of players in tournaments

I made the mistake of diving in those huge fields too often.

I now changed to play the tournaments which have a player cap and it's easier to get a better results there. 👍

#3 Freerolls

This Is also the case with many other rooms.
Simply don't waste your time on those kind of freerolls and concentrate on those with better opportunities, for example:
- cardschat freerolls
- Chequered the Flag freerolls

#4 Rake and rakeback
Depending on which room you compare it to, the situation is even worse. Rake is similar at 888 and there's no rakeback at all. 😶
Of course there are rooms with better promotions.

I think it's usually best to test out several poker rooms and see which fits to you the best. I play at PS, 888 and GGPoker and all of them have pros and cons :)

All of this is more or less true, but it mostly relate to MTTs. For people playing SnGs or cash games PokerStars offer lower rake than many competitors except for microstakes STTs. And when it comes to MTTs, fields are only large these days, if you insist on playing during peak hours and/or play the most popular formats like the BountyBuilders. You can find lots of MTTs on PokerStars with small to medium fields, so this reason to not play there has largely gone away, as traffic has declined. Fields also tend to get smaller, when you move up to midstakes, where the rake is also not higher than on competing sites. So its largely a microstakes phenomenon, and the solution can be to focus on SnGs, until you are ready to leave the micros.

it gives an incentive for the personal growth of the poker game,, that you are worse than other players, that you are lazy, DO NOT WANT TO SPEND YOUR TIME IMPROVING YOUR SKILLS, no problem to learn and play on a level of condition

I can agree if the #1, #3 and #4, but I don't agree with #2. I usually play on PS for that reason because not matter when I want to play, it usually always have many options of tables (even omaha) and tournaments.

It will never be perfect!) playing in more aggressive conditions you become stronger, the main thing is not to give up!

I never thought Pokerstars was uncomfortable for me. On the contrary, I'm more attracted to Pokerstars than other sites. Probably because I play tournaments here and only our forum freerolls.

Tracking software is also used on and accepted by many other sites like 888 Poker and ACR. So if you want to play on any of these sites and also become better, then its probably a good idea to start using it yourself.

Hello friend, very good post.
Well I will tell you the reasons why I only play in poker stars, for me.
The software is the lightest for my laptop, and in general as long as I manage to install or reinstall it I never had any problems, which I did with other sites. To play on GG and 888 I'm going to have to format my laptop which I'll do shortly.
Regarding MTT freerolls, I don't play other than Cardschat, Casinoorg and Freerrolazo. I think it's a mistake to waste your time on satellite freeroll tournaments with many stages.
The Bounty Builder and KO MTTs at low and medium payouts are really good. In general, the prizes are for a large number of participants and many times entering several KOs allows you to recover the entry and even win by entering outside the bubble. At least I play them very often.
The wide variety of tournaments allows you to study a suitable choice for your bankroll.
I don't pay much attention to the rake, in truth, more or less all the sites have their rake and it is acceptable.
The table themes for me are still the best.
It is a place where, due to my schedule, I always find tournaments to play.
Well friend that's all. Greetings Carlos from Argentina:):):);););)

I started on Pokerstars but no longer attracted to that site as the incentives of playing on PS is very low. Get a lot more bang for your buck on other sites, eg 888

I like that the competition is high on PS. It helps improve my game. Also…better players more often play to the script. Weaker players prefer the bingo method which of course doesn’t win long term for that individual but can hurt you long term if you play against enough of the bingo players.

ЯI think that Pokerstars is losing ground because of its greed and confidence in its steadfastness. More and more players are leaving there.

I don't like pokerstar very much because it has a lot of random players, for me, who try to have a good performance as a beginner, it's difficult to have good results.
