It seems that Alonso got a chance to win this championship. I would love it. But he and his team can't make any mistake from now on.

Neither can anyone else really, which is what's making this such a fascinating season.

It's also making it difficult for me as a supporter: being Australian, obviously I think Mark Webber being in the running for the championship is a fantastic thing and it was even better that it was happening in a year where it didn't look like Ferrari were in the running. Now that they are I'm having a serious case of divided loyalties

It's getting more and more interesting. Webber-Alonso-Wettel have the most chance to win this championship. Alonso can get back up from Massa but the two RBR pilot still fight with each other...cool races come.

I'm still really pulling for Webber to take the championship down. Apparently patriotism does rate above my love of the Scuderia, if only just.

It Could possibly work in Webber's favor, if Redbull should decide that he has the better chance and Vettel has to help him along the way.

The only good thing for me yesterday, was that I missed the first 19 laps and Hamilton got onto the podium. Webber crashed out on lap 19 Vettel's car went bang 10 laps from the end ... Button came in 12th with no points ... AND Alonso won thus leading the Driver's boo boo boo

I actually really enjoyed the race, just not the results, lol

I'm going to jinx Alonso, and place a £100 bet on him to win the championship. He is currently odds on favourite @ 8/11 with Webber 5/2, Hamilton 14/1, and Button 500/1 !!!

I wouldn't write off Vettel just yet. If he could get 2 wins, and Alonso stays off of the podium, he'll get the win. He has the drive, the skill, and the car to do it... BUT... lacking somewhat on the luck.

Hamilton won't get it, even though it would make my season if he did (McLaren fan). It just does not seem to be in the cards for McLaren this season. And the car just isn't quite right.

Webber, he's the one I'd love to see win, but yet again we have the RBR luck and, thinking about it, poor judgement on the drivers' side cropping up too often.

At this point in time, team orders would be very useful and totally understandable. Massa needs to support Alonso, Vettel needs to support Webber, and Button needs to support Hamilton.

Out of those, Massa will support Alonso, but the others will do their on thing. You see

I kind of feel sorry for Massa. You could see it in his face when asked about supporting Alonso. He was not happy at all, but being the team player he is, he will do whatever he can to help Alonso win the championship. I think psychologically he should leave Ferrari. But Ferrari won't want to lose him. Not because he is a winner, but because he works perfectly with Alonso as support.

Button may help Hamilton, but I wouldn't risk any money on it. Vettel would never help Webber, and vice versa.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... the best season I have ever witnessed.. brilliant

Yeah it's a good season.
The last race was funny tho...the pilots' radio chat about weather:
Webber: very bad conditions
Alonso: Worst weather condition in my life..
Hamilton: The weather condition is fine!

I respect Hamilton for this.

The thing is, if you're going to suggest that you have to be able to answer the 50 million dollar question: leave Ferrari to go where?!?

The drives at all the other top teams are locked up so at best he'd be moving to someone like Renault, Sauber or Force India, probably taking a big pay cut and a probably putting the final nail in his chances of ever winning a world championship.

He doesn't really strike me as the rallying type. I guess he could go to Indycar or some other lesser formula but again he'd be giving up on the chance of ever taking a Formula 1 championship.

Fact is there aren't really any alternatives to Ferrari at the moment and at least there he's got a fat pay check to console himself with.

A split race format what are they thinking, it would be the end of F1 as we know it, come on isnt this suppose to be the worlds premier motor racing series.

Every year the FIA, the governing body, make changes to the regulation, this has always put teams on the back foot, making it hard for them to improve on what they allready have.

The sport is expensive enough, without turning it into two categories. The strain on the industry with be enormous.

The last race is going to be a real pooping time. If the main contenders stay on track and have no mishaps, I will be sitting there, eyes glued, and butt cheeks clenched !!!

Short article in today's [Swedish] paper, with quotes from both RBR drivers stating just that. Webber says "it will all be decided in the last corner"

I still cant get over this split race format was even thought of in the first place. Im still going for Mark Webber for Championship Winner, Im Aussie we all look after one Another when on the back foot.

Formula 1 is just not the same anymore, what next the V8 Supercars having two separate races, one race for Holdens, One race for FORDS.

WTF, motor racing is about just that, .... RACING ... not politics. Once ev1 stops pissing in each others pockets, (POCKETS, lol) we might get a good Championship going, but im afraid while there is politics in the sport, there is no WORLD DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP.

I've been following F1 since the days of James Hunt, although interest faded during the Damon Hill days. Not F1's fault, that was my college and Uni and major getting wasted for as many days of the week time.

In all that time I found this last year to have been the best. Loved it.

What's this split race thing ? FOTA ? if so, I doubt that will ever happen.

FOTA will never happen, end of. As for the current championship, I don't really care who wins it as long as it isn't Alonso. 20 races next season, no F-Duct ( because some teams can't make it work ), the re-introduction of the 20 kg battery pack ( which Mclaren ruled at ) makes for another interesting season next year. Bernie maybe 80, but the tool still rules the roost.

Looking like Vettel - 2/7 for the Championship on lap 30......poor Alonso stuck behind Petrov and no sign of being able to get by....that will leave him 6th or 7th at the end of the race unless something happens....
