When you’re sitting on a 30–40bb stack in a multi-table tournament, what’s your preferred strategy? Do you lean more towards 3-betting aggressively, or do you focus on postflop play and picking better spots?

Depends on ICM. As ICM goes higher you should 3bet more and cold-call less. But in ChipEV terms it is not that different from the deep stack strategy, just a bit smaller bet sizes and more shoves appearing earlier. You still have enough room to have 3 street action in SRPs most of the time.
