Hello, I have a question for the community. I would like to know what methods they use or how they do to always be focused on poker tournaments that are long, for example, 5 or 6 hours. Honestly, there comes a point where I don't know if I get tired or start to hurry and play poorly, I make bad decisions thinking that I can be left behind and end up losing without having played most of my hands. Thank you very much in advance!

Well that's a great question, 5 or 6 hours is a long time...., maybe take a few breaks,

get up and walk around, make coffee, listen to music...,

don't worry about getting left behind, play your game👍

To maintain focus during tournaments, I think the best way is to play in several tournaments, thus preventing you from getting distracted by other things.

Poker tournaments require strategic play, including bankroll management, playing at different stages of the tournament, and adapting to your opponents. To increase your chances of winning, play aggressively but not recklessly, choose suitable tournaments with favorable rake structures, and avoid playing in tournaments with excessively high rake.

If you find it difficult to maintain focus for 5-6 hours (or even more), then it might be better for you to focus on faster games like turbos or SnGs. Or to be honest even cash games. They give total flexibility, since you can come and go, as you like.

The only way out for me is to play at least 3 tournaments, preferably 6. And over time, after leaving one, load others, and dilute tournaments with buy-in freerolls.

i think 5-6 hours is optimal duration. for me 8-9-10 hours is long. so try to find good music, it helps me. If you play more tournaments, 5–6 hours will start to feel easy, not long. good luck !

Great question. There are a few things you can try:
Train - Try building up the sessions over time. You wouldn't put your running trainers on one day and expect to run a marathon. It takes time and effort. Your brain is a muscle that needs exercise and training just like your legs or arms.
Drink plenty - avoid caffeine as you will likely crash at some point and then you will just hit a wall and start making even more mistakes. I recommend water, or squash that isn't too sugary.
Get fresh air - keep a window open to keep your room cool and fresh.
Make the most of your breaks - of course, you'll need bathroom breaks, but try to get outside or do some quick exercise, like star jumps to get the blood pumping.
Remove other distractions - phone, TV, family, pets. You won't notice, but each interaction uses up energy. Removing these retains as much energy as possible. We're only talking small margins, but that could be the differences between making a good fold instead of an egregious call.

Interesting question, I have a similar problem, distract by food and YouTube, the problem of concentrating is very important for a tournament player

If you find it difficult to stay focused in such long tournaments, here are some tips that have helped me: when the tournament is long and, obviously, has a fairly extended registration period (about 3 hours for late entries), I register at least halfway through that period. That's when I start playing. This helps me avoid feeling so tired after many hours of playing and prevents me from getting distracted. Another thing I do is take advantage of the 5-minute breaks. I step away for a while to clear my head, and, well, it might sound strange, but I like to do other things while I play, and I don't mean listening to music. It could be reading something, playing a game on my phone, something that doesn't absorb me so much into the game. I do this because I've realized that simply watching the tournament I'm playing in puts more pressure on me, and I make mistakes I shouldn't. Of course, I don't always do it, but these are small details that help me. I recommend you make small changes, try things that you feel might help you. This is what I did when I had been playing for a couple of years and started playing buy-in tournaments. I always registered from the beginning, and I couldn't handle playing for so many hours. Over time, I've noticed things and I've changed them, but every experience is different. That's why I recommend you make slight changes and test them. If something works for you, keep doing it; if not, stop.

I find that while playing tournaments, TIME FLIES! "Oh wow.... another break already?!"
The deeper I go, the easier it is to stay pumped, motivated, alert, etc. I mean we're getting closer to the bigger prizes.

Personally I need to do meal prep. prior to starting a tournament session & because I have liver disease, I need to eat small meals often (or talk about losing focus!!! lol).
On my breaks, I take the dog outside for a short walk around the yard (or by myself if he's sleeping).

Focusing on one hand at a time, getting up every hour in those breaks and living in the present is the only solution!
