Fold AA PreFlop?

In the WSOP main event $10,000 buy in and one of the most prestigious tournaments arguably in the world. It is the very first hand dealt, everyone has a stack of 50,000 chips. Every player shoves and you're last to act and look down at Ace's do you call or fold, and why?

I remember that one, but the answer is a bit different. According to the rules and odds, yes you should fold, but in the end they say you should call... why, because it's a hand of luck for you as much as it is for the others. You do have the best starting hand in hold'em.
But bubble or no bubble, you get them every once in a while, and man... i've had killer suckouts like that, more than i can count, still i'm not sorry. A bad beat is a bad beat, but it doesn't mean it's a bad play. AA, never fold.

I'm about 50/50 when playing AA. If I'm close to a bubble I'd think about it. But at the end of the day I find it almost impossible to fold pre depending on my stack and the situation.

Only once I had to throw away AA . But it was a responsible game and the more I was close to getting a ticket. I had a medium-sized stack and we had 2 extra players. I don't regret throwing away such a good cards . I decided not to risk it .I got a ticket .

This would be the perfect time to fold pre. Your not going for a win in games like this and dont gain a lot by playing them if your only waiting for 2 more people to get KOd

That said if the table short stack shoves and I k ow it's only me left I'd call then for sure.

if you play poker have AA end you fold preflop i think you dont need to play poker....what is point if you fold the strongest preflop hand in holdem

Just because its the strongest hand does not make it a winning hand,,

if it is not a winning hand then it is not a profitable hand.

This is situational and the end goal is to have the most money in the bank not what cards you play or fold.

folding aces preflop is ALWAYS -ev.

lol. just because there is variance doesnt mean you should play badly.

I have come close to folding pocket aces once and probably should have in that particular hand because I lost. I can say that I have lost quite a few hands AA and really don't give them any weight other than being the top pair.

With this being said; Memphis said it best "I play to win!" If I have them I'm shoving!!! almost all the time! My reasoning for this is simple; I want as many players as possible to fold! I feel like that better the odds of my aces holding up if I am called by 1 or 2 players instead of 3+.

I think the real question is what are you playing for? Are you playing to just make it or are you playing to win? I would rather play AA and lose than fold them and not have a chance!

The question is have you ever folded AA pre-flop.. My answer, Yes.

I have folded AA pre on the bubble of a few satellite's where villain had me covered. I've never folded them pre in any other circumstance. Only other one I would consider folding them pre is the circumstance someone once asked. and while I know it will probably never happen it's still an interesting thought. Against 9 random hands, AA is 31% favorite. Other hands are roughly 7.5%. You have a 69% chance to lose.

This would really depend on how many times I planned on playing the main event. At this time in my life, it would be a "once in my lifetime" thing. So, I'd fold in this situation. Even though you'll have the best chance (or tied for highest if their is another AA hand) of any hand, your overall chance of winning against that many players is not good. However, if I had the money and skills to be able to play the main event every year, then I would consider calling. It's +EV, but the risk of elimination is very high. You need to be able to make that same gamble several times on average before having it pay off.

Folding AA preflop is worth it if your in bubble and too many players go all-in before you. Even tho AA is strongest hand pre-flop. Sometimes you just have to let it go to continue playing. Easy as that.

I would fold aces only in a spot where we were 3handed, only top 2 places are paid, and they are paid for more than a 100k. Both of them shoving, one is definitely going out, and if I lose I'm going out. So folding there would give you a guaranteed 100k. Any other spot, basically any other is a NO WAY!
