When I’m just starting to play freerolls, I don’t jump into everything — I try to choose tournaments where I actually have a real chance to earn something, not just play a “lottery.”
First of all, I look for private freerolls. I usually find them through streamers on Twitch or in communities like CardsChat, for example. There are fewer players there, and it’s much easier to get into the money. That’s exactly where I prefer to start.
Sometimes I play freerolls with tickets. First, I go through a small qualifier, and then I get into the main tournament. There are fewer random players there, and the game becomes more meaningful.
I also play open freerolls, but I don’t rely on them. I understand that it’s almost always chaos: thousands of players going all-in with anything. I use these tournaments more as practice, especially for push/fold stages.
As for my overall strategy, I spend most of my time on private freerolls, sometimes play promotions and ticket events, and only occasionally join open tournaments.
My main goal at the beginning is not to hit a big win right away, but to gradually build a
bankroll. I try to play carefully, avoid unnecessary risks, and reach the money more often instead of busting early.
