What are your favorite tournaments on America's Cardroom under $50?

I've heard you say on the stream you love the $15 40k and since trying it, man... you're right.

Would love to know any other gems that I'm missing out on!

Thanks Jeff!

Small buy-in + big field = soft

Hi Jeff,

From watching your streams, you seem to place high importance to picking spots when your stack is getting shallow. Would you say that this is the one part of anyone's game that should be studied more because you (generally speaking) are short stacked in most MTTs that you'd play?

Thanks, and enjoy the work you put into your stream.
Yes it is important to find a good value hand based upon your # of bbs and position and go with it. Short stack play is more important than 100BB play in MTTs due to the increased frequency of being around 20bbs as opposed to cash games where you will have 100bb

Hello Jeff
How do you play pocket jacks online MTTs?
Well, I will tell you a secret Allyte, in all of my years of playing poker I have learned that there are three ways to play pocket jacks in Texas hold'em tournaments.

They are all wrong.

In tournament play is it correct to not go bust on a potential draw?

Flop is 2 7 Q with 2 and 7 being hearts. Pot is four way and raised pre flop. I am in the big blind. I know I am a favorite against all hands except flopped sets and over pairs. I have AK hearts. Or do I get it in and live with the variance?

You are not a favorite against Qx of hearts. In general, get the money in with two overs and the nut flush draw and live with the results.

Hello Jeff
On your guide you have allist of card to play from the button only.
My question is if someone has raised before it got to me on the button, and I had something like a K7s or a Q 9 off, would you call a bb raise.
If you would, at how bb raises would you not call?
I know this is very general so assume the player was average in tightness.
Thank you for your time, Allyte

Sorry I’ve one more part to go with both questions. On the button with them card would you limp or raise a blind.
I’m mixing in both as I’m not sure which is best.

Hello again.

Thank you for your previous help.
Anyway, is there a such thing in preflop as a bad position to try get someone to shove when I have pocket aces?.
I don’t think so but someone has told me this.
You won’t hurt my feelings if I’m wrong.
Thank you

Hi Jeff,
I haven't watched/viewed any of your content (but I am 'subscribed' lol) but heard your Youtube channel was cancelled (or something like that). Is it still active now... are you releasing content still? I'd read on Twitter where some others were making some other suggestions (as an alternative to Youtube)... have you given those a try?

Do you live stream on Twitch?

tks

Hi, hope to get some advice about late registering. This post is about online play.
First of all I'm 74 years old, so starting a tournament with a four or five hour late registering period is just s too much for me. I don't have the focus for how long of a tournament that it could be overall.

I'm a tight/aggressive player. In a tournament with a 12 minute blind levels how long can I wait to enter and still have enough chips to work with? How many blinds? Also how many blinds for a 10 minute blind tournament.
Thanks

Hi Jeff, wonder if you’ve any advice about decision fatigue. I find I run deep in a lot of tournaments only to get to the later stages and throw it away with bad decisions. In very aware of my ‘brain fog’ at these stages. Do you have any tips to avoid/alleviate it?

Try playing turbos if fatigue and focus are concerns. If you want to play better structured tournaments but can't devote 8 hours to playing, max late reg and see what you can do with 10 blinds.

Make sure you get up every break and do some curls, pushouts, squats. Get something to drink or snack throughout your session. No large and unhealthy meals.

Hey Boski -

I want to say that I truly enjoy the vlog ... I binged a few dozen over the last couple months and find your content to be highly entertaining.

What brought me to the vlog was seeing "TheBoski" in a few BCP tournies and having no idea who you were, other than some sort of pro. Further digging revealed that I would probably know you by your old PS name ICuRaRook. Damn - why couldn't you be just some rando redshirt?

Glad you're still in the game, but do you miss the baller competition that playing things like the $100Rs or 1K Tuesday or $320 Wed events brought when they were part of your grind back in the day?Your vlogs show you wrecking havoc on the local dailies in Vegas, with no real competition to speak of and I see you tooling around several lower buyins through ACR.

Your current game selection, Live (before pandemic) and online, are ways you can pretty much print money, but when do you have the chance to push it to the next level, back to the day when this online guy discovered a minraise really works?

Best of luck at the tables and continued success in all things. If you pop up in one of my events, please sit to my immediate right.

So I noticed yesterday that some of the tournaments with Buy ins of $50 +5 did not cover the guarantee, by alot! I'm thinking this is very tempting to jump on board and shoot for some of that FREE money.

I usually play micro games, up to $6.60 buy ins. I will play special events ie. OSS series up to $16.50, with varied success.

I have played live games up to $1200 BI

Should I give it a shot or, stop looking at those games above my BR.

Are they loaded with sharks or do you think a NIT such as myself has a shot at a big score?

Really tempted. A good example is today's Special $80,000 guarantee, $55 BI has about an hour of late registration and is more than $30,000 short of the guarantee. LR ended with an overlay of over $12000

Any thoughts?????

I posted this thread in the tournament poker section of poker strategy for some thoughts.https://www.cardschat.com/forum/tournament-poker-59/big-overlays-onacr-465338/

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for doing this thread man! I was wondering whenever you find yourself in a major downswing what are some of the things you do to right the ship and get yourself back on track. Also when studying theory and situations in between playing, do you take notes to make it stick in your mind or do you have a process that helps you to keep evolving as a poker player and becoming more advanced as you go? Sometimes I feel like take one step forward only to take two steps back. I would like to start learning from my mistakes more.
