This is beneficial for poker rooms. Otherwise they wouldn't do this.

I think so that people don't complain about them being too short and so that people are allowed to be able to join not beimg restricted to 30 Minutes while being busy doing something else.

2 hours is too much. The average is 3 times already.

I also prefer to join into the tournaments in the middle of registration but that may change depending on how many are left and how fast the blinds go up.
A lot of times I may wait til the very end and usually make the cash do to the field have busted close to the prizes.

Many players deliberately wait for late registration
In order to: enter with a shorter stack
play less before reaching the money
reduce the risk of busting early

This is a decision that greatly impacts your bankroll, because late registration often means the blinds will eliminate you if you don't go all in! On the other hand, when you start the tournament, at least on GGPoker, you have the advantage that if you're bubbled before the payouts, you win your entry! That's a huge advantage and a great way to fill the guaranteed tournaments! When we register late before the close, we're forced to go all in to grow our stack, even if we want to stay in the tournament and make a rebuy.

I don't quite understand the advantage of playing in tournaments on GG. What does "if you're bubbled before the payouts, you win your entry!" mean? Could you explain in more detail what this means, because I don't understand it. How do you ‘you win your entry!’?

I like to enter late registration in some types of tournaments as long as I have at least 20 big blinds to play with.

There might be some advantages to use late registration for satellites and/or if you're happy with a min cash in a MTT you think other players' skill level is way above yours and you prefer the shove/fold game with a low stack... but overall, if you take poker seriously, you should play from the start to try to build a stack and especially nowadays when everyone online uses a HUD(many sites have a HUD of their own, tho showing less stats...), you want to build some 'good stats' when the blinds are low and you don't have to risk your entire stack preflop(for example the 3bet stat that is recommended for a balanced modern style is 8-12%, it's way easier to 3bet with a hand like A3s when you have 50 BB+ to steal the pot and/or play from position postflop... than if your stack is like 10-15 BBs, in this case your 3bet is pretty much a shove...).

I always register about two minutes before late registration ends. I’ve noticed that I make the money more often that way.

I would say, that I hate tournaments with late registration. Because, it makes tournament so long. 😔 I love to play only turbo tournaments, with 5 minutes blinds and if there is a late registration, than I join, that tournament, close to late registration ending.😎

It's all about strategy; there are players who only do MLR and there are tournaments designed for that. Just observe the structure, it pays off a lot.

Many high-level players are comfortable with late registration because they get chips closer to the prize pool, and the variance is lower due to early bad beats. They also know they have a good chance of doing well if they build up their starting stack by the time late registration ends.

I think I posted it already in some similar thread, but anyway: if your level is above the average, long term you have the advantage starting early - you play more hands, building up your stack.

It depends on the structure and your goal.

Starting on time gives you the chance to build a stack early against weaker players and play deeper, which increases your skill edge. It’s usually better in softer fields and slower structures.

Late registration can be more time-efficient and reduces early variance, but you give up opportunities to accumulate chips and sometimes enter with a shorter, more ICM-sensitive stack.

Personally, I prefer starting on time in good fields, and using late registration only if I’m short on time or the structure is still very playable.

It all depends on whether it's a bounty tournament or not, but it's better to register for the tournament right away, it'll give you more good hands and I'll be less likely to press the blinds.

jumping at the end of registration is more about gambling than about system play

it depends on what you want: roll the dice or play some hands. in the end the result should be the same elimination in the first 3 all-ins statistical spiking.

You know the number of people and the prize area for late registration. More frequent risk and constant play on the entire stack are the main qualities for the game.
Early registration allows you to feel more relaxed at the table, to take less risks when everyone is equal. Sometimes use re-entry.

I always try to play only after registration, before the tournament starts. Late registration is always a matter of luck, and maybe I'll double my winnings a couple of times. I don't like to rely on luck.

Sometimes it happens that when entering a tournament at the last minute, all you have to do is go all in once and you can get into the paid zone.

I only sign late on freeroll tournaments, never do it on paid tournament
Don't have cons on late registration, you miss a lot of opportunity to earn chips.
