We all go through the card-dead stages. . If you want to play the junk, make sure you have the chips to lose. If you get lucky playing junk cards, throttle back to playing better (high, pair, suit, connector) starting hands.
Luck doesn't last forever; good and bad.

Bad card-luck is no reason to throw away the strategy that usually wins for you. You might play a few of the junk hands, betting lightly, and see what happens. If you keep losing, sit out for a time, and regroup. At least sitting out doesn't cost you anything.
After sitting out, your luck may change and you will be refreshed.

I hope to get in position to play even with trash, knowing how to play low cards in poker is also a gift.

I try to stay very patient and wait for the hands I like to play but like you said you end up short stacked and putting your chips in where you may not have wanted to. Just gotta mix it up a bit and try to understand player tendencies and try to pick up chips when you can in position even with cards you may not often play.

Unfortunately, sometimes you gotta play the junk, I cannot tell you how many times I have been beat with straight garbage. OMG I am getting pissed thinking about it.

You need to play the player. Depending on the opponent you can raise 7/2u in position and they will fold.
Waiting for the best hands means when raise the opposition will fold and in the meantime you will eventually blind out.

Pick your spots before you become shot stacked and all you fold equity is gone. Paying close attention to Position, Table dynamics and Player tendencies should give you an edge to know when to put your chips in the middle.

Just ask for a new dealer in chat. That works for me.

You have to be patient, there is a lesson in the star poker school that says that all the players go through a free period, so you must be patient and try to take some money by lying or patience until the free period passes

I wait and wait and wait ...
The only advantage one could draw from this is that people around will perceive you as a no-BS rock solid player, who means business when he's suddenly raising a hand.

I Think there's no much to do but wait for a spot where you are in position at least with maybe some blockers or suited cards and defend the Bigblinds. Sometimes you will have to play junk otherwise you will be labeled as an super tight player and when you bet everyone else folds

This happened to me 2 days ago in a freeroll and when i was 20BBs in the UTG received a pair of 6, i tought for somewhile and just shoved but faced Aces on MP :/.

I try to wait for a good hand and start taking risks just before the bust. And most often I fly out without waiting for a good hand))

In tournaments I'll widen my range and bluff more from in position, steel more blinds. Worst case you'll loose a tournament sooner that you were never destined to go deep in. Best case you'll ride your variance while looking dangerous on the poker table.

It depends on the position you are in. But I just fold and wait for my next two cards. These are mostly free rolls so I really have nothing invested. The bad thing about junk is either you get raised or people call you when you raise with them. Just fold and move on.

Yesterday I played a few turbo sit n gos and for a solid 2 hrs was just getting pure junk hands. Then ending up super short stacked just through not playing many hands.

What do you do when this happens, I guess it's just part of the game? Should I have started to play some less favourable hands?
This is the first and most important point. Each deal of cards does not depend on the previous one and does not affect the next one. If you are dealt ten different suits of small garbage in a row, this does not affect the next change. New deal - new cards. Everything is completely random. They can hand over the garbage again, or maybe the monster. Once in a while it doesn't have to. But after a long period of drought, many people begin to think that bad cards in hand are the norm. As if the mathematical laws of distribution have changed, and aces with pictures will now always avoid you.

Wait for a good card and control your stack, if the stack drops sharply and becomes less than 20bb, then you have to take risks, but then you still need to choose a GOOD POSITION at the table, cards with the potential to collect, at least something and boldly go ON-LIN, And only VA -BANK

I get it. Continuous folding gets old and stuff I normally wouldn't play starts to look good just because I want to play. That's often how I end up losing because I play when I shouldn't and I know better, but keep doing it anyway... not playing turbo/hyper games gives me more time as well.

I would become more aggressive, but I would do it much earlier than the two hours! If this didn 't work I would stop the game for later, or next day.:joyman:
