Many places mention the '3BB plus +1BB for each player entering' procedure . Of course, this is not a requirement, it is possible to raise a bigger one, but an uncomfortably big raise will not 'elegant' I think... If you want to raise big, go all-in, but I don't think you should raise for e.g. 25BB.
