It's tough to imagine me laying down AA preflop.

I guess in a super important tournament (sunday million for example) where 9 players are left and 7 are 1 or 2 BB short stacked and the super conservative chip leader went all in before me. Even then it would be hard to lay down.

I can call with AA only in one situation: an aggressive player raises, everyone folds before me, and I'm in a late position. This means that I must be guaranteed to play either in heads-up or in 3-wei pot. If I have reason to assume that after me two or more players will enter the hand, then I will 3-bet, because with AA I do not want to be in a sweat with three or more opponents.

when you play in a very expensive tournament for yourself, on a bubble or a big money step, provided that 4 + players went all-in

Never folding AA pre flop. Regardless of how many players are in the hand.

I have folded AA preflop. On the bubble, with the fold a definite pay. 3 big stacks that weren't going to fold already in the hand. I would have won too, but just wasn't worth the risk for me. :( I'm pretty sure that wasn't the only time, but it was memorable.
AA can be so unlucky in a tight spot.

I think I read somewhere that the only time you should consider folding AA pre-flop is if you are on the bubble in a satellite and the other player has gone all in and you are covered.

That, and possibly if you have 3+ players already gone all-in before you. Each additional person involved in the pot reduces your chances of winning the pot.

In a cash game I would never fold aces.

In a tournament I could see scenarios I would fold. If I know I ma a better player than my opponents and we have multiple all ins, I would be willing to fold. Even though I am the favorite, I could still be much worse than a coinflip to win the pot. I would be willing to take advantage of future opportunities.

Or perhaps I am the short stack on the bubble and we have multiple all ins. Being the short stack, I need to win the hand or I am out. I would be willing to fold and see if one or more of those already in get knocked out and I am in the money.

I am sure there are other situations, but those are two that come to mind.

I'm sure there are a couple of spots you could fold, maybe the bubble of the wsop with a couple of all ins ahead of you and one will bust, but I'm not that player its all- in for me:reddy:

I could only recommend it to someone who is in a situation where they won the buyin to the tournament or something. They didn't have the money to enter themselves and they are on the bubble. It is still a bad move, but its guaranteed money and the situation is different.

There are times I have folded AA preflop just recently. I had never before, but it was 3 people all in all ready in a tournament and I knew I would get burned, so I folded. And yes I would have gotten burned by a straight 6-10. It was a great fold I ended up in the money in that sit n go.

In the initial stages of a tournament, I would never consider folding AA preflop ... however if I find myself in the bubble ... and an opponent has made a re-raise before my turn and I have very few chips ... then in that situation I would consider folded AA preflop ..

AA is the best pre-flop hand. If you wish to fold with this hand then there must be a good reason to do that.
If the tournament has not reached the money but with the amount of chips you have you think you are reasonably placed in the money and wish to remain in the money and more importantly you don't wish to take any risk then i think you may consider folding with AA.

Another reason i can think of is the situation where 4 or 5 players already in the pot with high raises or all-ins where a possibility arise that someone would make 2 pair and above then playing with AA may not be fruitful. However this situation rarely happens.

Hello, bubble of a satellite would fold AA, but in another situation, perhaps in final table bubble, and if 4 players were all in before me.

All in very easy.

AA is a very easy hand to play, with this hand I will go all in at any stage of Mtt.
If I am in UTG, I raise 3x, if I face more than one player, I try to control the pot.
If it is a hyper turbo Mtt All in I care how many players gave All in before.
It's not a complaint but a comment, it's amazing how often AA loses on pokerstars.

I would fold pocket AA on preflop if there is more than 2 goes all in then you know those two people or more might have an Ace then you have less outs to hit another Ace.

Hey all, just wondering when, or if, you would consider laying down AA preflop?

I think I would if there were 3 or 4 all ins ahead of me and I didn’t have a large stack nor was I short. After one or two opponents AA I feel isn’t super strong. Even if you were against 3 or 4 lower starting pairs, there’s a good chance one of them will hit (about 20% each).

I think I would rather have suited connectors if I’m in a multi all in pot.

Thoughts?

I've folded AA many times preflop, when I'm in a satellite and I know I've got plenty of chips to make it, no reason to take a risk when you know you are going to win. Other than that, fire away!
