$2 NL HE 6-max: Was it wrong to call pre-flop here ?

I wasn't sure rather to make the call or not since I'm genuinely ignorant and am not good yet with knowing what cards to call with with that approximative raise size so I went with my intuition

Yes, call with KQ but don't then just allow yourself to be swatted away like a fly to any 1/3 pot C-bet, you're playing poker, not Bingo. You have alot of Ax in your calling range and he has alot of smaller pairs and suited broadways, connectors etc. in his. Click the call button and if he fires again on the Turn you can safely fold, If not you can lead the river for Pot and maybe fold out 88-KK.

It is a bad call for you.
You stated you did not know what to do in this spot -so do not call a 3 bet pot OOP if you do not know why you are calling. If you do not know step 1 call or fold then step 2 playing OOP in a 3 bet pot will only lose you large amounts of money.

The issue with calling KQo here for you is that your V can have AK or AQ and then dominate you post flop for your stack. As well you will not know when to or how to bluff with KQ or how many streets you should call to catch bluffs with K high etc etc.

A simple rule of thumb when we do not know what to do OOP is to call suited hands and fold off-suit. The why is suited hands can flop 1 of their suit and continue on the flop when the off-suit should be folding. What this does is put you in fewer OOP spots but allow you to play deeper into the streets on far more flops confidently than the off-suits allow.

As you get more skilled you will learn the post flop skills you need to play a hand like KQo OOP vs 2 players.
