I’ve noticed that different stakes seem to play very differently, even if the game is technically the same.

Sometimes I feel like I should adjust more, but other times I just stick to my usual style.

Do you change your strategy a lot depending on the stakes?

Its not so much the stake as the players you are playing against

No, you dont play the same.

You should play according to the specific villans unless they are unexploitable, then you should use GTO.

Exploit when you can, GTO when you cant.

You need to adjust your play for many reasons, stake is just part of it. Most players will play tighter the higher the steaks are reality to them.

Yes, I try to adjust my strategy depending on the stakes because players’ behavior changes a lot.
At micro stakes, I usually bluff less and focus more on value betting because people tend to call too often with weak hands. Aggression without a strong hand often just doesn’t work there.
At mid stakes, balancing ranges, timing, and understanding who is capable of applying pressure or making big bluffs becomes much more important. You have to defend your lines more often and pay closer attention to table dynamics.
The main thing is not to change everything at once, but to understand who exactly you are playing against. Sometimes adapting to a specific opponent is more important than adapting to the limit itself.

Well, I don't always play the same way; I already have 4-5 strategies planned out in my head and I apply them. Of course, luck doesn't help because there's nothing you can do about it.

Nope. It changes stake to stake and even table to table as no two tables will play the same unless the same villains are at both tables. With that said the adjustments are pretty minor at the stakes the majority of us play. For full-ring I find 2nl-5nl play somewhat similar. 10nl plays different but will also have some villains from 5nl. And 25nl-50nl full-ring both play somewhat similar in my experience. Each of those stake levels also have their own exploits.

Also how any given table plays also depends on how/what villains think of you as a player and how they adjust and play you. Even at lowest stakes I tend to get a lot of respect in hands because my stats say I play a tight aggressive style and I also adjust/change speeds in sessions.

Cheers!!!

When we talk of stakes we assume higher stakes means more skilled players--that may or may not be true. The key is always table dynamics how do the players on my table play.
If you are playing cash the players on your table should always be weaker than you if you are paying rake. That is why table selection is soo important.

Yes of course we make adjustments but "How You Play" is so vague a statement it cannot be answered clearly.

The level of the players is higher as the levels of money at the tables are higher, that is my opinion. Although I think you should adapt to the table where you sit regardless of the level of money at it.

Stakes and table dynamics both play a role. Who is at your tables matters most.

I was playing a microstakes shord deck game the other day where one player was going all in 70% of hands and another was going all in 50% of hands.

If you're not willing to get it in with jqs or 88 pre you're missing out massively. Variance was massive but by the end I was up 8 buyins in a single 30 hour long session.

Wrong, in general as you move up there are fewer fish and the regs get better

At the casinos where I live in San Diego Ca the house drops 4, 5 to 6 bucks every pot with a flop . If you are playing $1/2 no limit that's a huge amount . You have to play incredibly tight and raise big when you do enter a pot to overcome the lost rake . Even then the games are almost unbeatable . At $5/10 no limit you can play more pots and use smaller raise sizes . However the players are likely to be stronger opponents .

I always try to adapt my game to the current opponents. It's not dependent on the stakes.

No way lol. I play way tighter at stakes where my bankroll can't handle a bad beat.

Just cashed a freeroll for $0.71 after 2h 21m. According to Aleksandr1991's 100 buy-in rule, I need $100 to play $1 MTTs. I have 0.71% of proper BRM.

So yeah, I play my T4o different when it's $0 vs when it's 50% of my bankroll 😂

Higher stakes = more scared money = worse decisions for me. BRM first, ego second.

What about you guys?
