This is great advice. I try to do just that. (Sit out-Walk away.) But there's another side to this. When your opponent just lost a big one, many times the next hand will be all in and you can take advantage of this. Just don't think your 7-2 off will beat him just because he's on tilt.

Analyze your hand history and see what mistakes u made to get into the situation. Your bad beats often come when ur short stacked and someone with a worse hand has odds to call.

put 'em on tilt

When you know you have an emotional player at your table, put him on tilt with a donk move, like a bluff, or playing bad cards and hitting. He'll start watching you and lose focus, then you go in for the kill.

Yeah definitely. Simply put, just relax and play your best game all the time. It really sounds easy, but it's not.

If i still have enough chips i'll ask myself to go out somewhere take a breather and go back at the table but with no revenge

Very interesting information, even though i knew all of it already 🙂. Its nice to read all of that and get it clearly in my head again. Just ricently i lost with pocket aces against pocket 2s against a friend of mine... mann it was a bad beat, but i lost all my money right there so i didnt have anymore to lose to him being on tilt 🙂. I believe in due time ill get to the stage where tilt wont really affect me. GL at the tables everyone 🙂

I word and all your Tilt problems will go out the window..and you wont care if your 4 Aces got spanked by a royal flush at the main event

after a bad beat just open up a micro micro table and raise and reraise every hand every street.. sure you'll donk off some chips but its just a few bones....

I go on tilt to often. haha. I've built my bankroll from $25 to $1300 before, and in a mear hour my bankroll was at $0. Then I shut my laptop lid. Lay in bed and think... I figure that if I would have just quit with $10 left I would be in legit shape to build it back up.. but no, now I have to wait til payday to deposit again.. So i sit in my room bored.. You'd think I'd learn. but i dont. hopefully this post helps. lmao.

i think the best advice is to just breathe-sit out close your eyes and as hard as it may seem u need to refocus-remember that in the long run skill overcomes the luck factor-if this does not help i suggest just quitting for the day no use in losing all your money going on tilt-the_urge27

WOW! This is the first thread I found that I can say I truly enjoyed reading. I even saved it for later viewing and sharing with friends; one in particular that I am constantly telling to calm down. They take every loss personally and always becomes so defensive saying things like "I am coming after you for that one".
I am always saying "charge it to the game" we all are going to get bluffed from time to time, we all have lost hands that we know we should have won, we all have folded to find the last 2 cards belonged to us...SO WHAT...get over it and stay focused don't let no one remove your joy of the game.

Thanks for such a thought out and knowledgeable posting....we need more players like you to teach us and to remind us of all the "tricks of the trade" good luck at the tables.

I can't stop tilting online, I need to read hands, mannerisms, online is only a hobby, so I don't deposit anymore. I need more information to succeed

You will never avoid going on tilt its going to happen you juz have to learn to deal with it the best way possible. Some people fake going on tilt and use it to their advantage.

all u can do is put your money in good-you cant control the cards-just say nh gg and move on to the next tourney-or hand-if you feel u cant shake the tilt feeling just quit playing for the day-in the long run skill overcomes luck-the_urge27

Man this is an amazing post and relates to me in so many ways..Haha..Pocket AA lose to 22, man that happens way too much..And it also happens to be a coincidence that my name is TiltMonkey999..I try not to TILT, but sometimes I cant help it..Emotions over power me..I have to get over that hump inorder to make money efficiently..Until then, I will keep losing..But amazing post
Good to hear from a person that knows what hes talking about..Great Post
Take Care

yes tilt can be a bitch. i just remind myself that if im making the right decisions then i need to continue to play my game. however, if i make bad decisions i normally get up because that is how i avoid tilt. gl all and play on.😀

kudos to you, for forwarding that. I really enjoyed your stratagies on how to avoid going on tilt. Even though it was a long the read, it was worth every second. I will try not to go on tilt in the future !

I don't agree with twizzybop's post about avoiding going on tilt. It is just not true. Being "emotionally intelligent" keeps logic pumping and emotions suppressed enough that they don't control your thinking. This is something I learned in college. It also takes practice and acknowledgment. I could go further into the concept; but, it is beyond the scope of this thread.

Working somewhere you hate until you find a new job is an example of not letting your emotions overpower your logic. It's done all the time. Remembering your goals is a way of overpowering the emotional response to performing an unwanted task that needs to be done; in order to, complete your goal.

In poker, listening to your gut and making a call is logical. But, to make a foolish call out of revenge, anger, etc. is emotional which is the worst way to play.

Also, taking a break from the game shows that you can't handle the pressure of losing. It's a weakness that will be exploited by better opponents; however, if it's the only way for someone to keep their emotions in check- so be it. But, I would find a better way to cope.

Thinking emotionally is dangerous. Not only in poker, but in real life. Getting arrested; getting in fights; buying something you can't afford because you want it; are, some of the signs of poor emotional intelligence. Poor emotional intelligence, in general, will lead to mediocrity- at best.

i really wish i had read this thread a lot earlier!
im gonna try it for sure bcause i loose a lot of money when i tilt🙁
intersting point to shut off emotions durin a game...hard for me because i let myself easily led by my emotions ...most of the times they help me take the right descision but when i tilt well...i go broke most of the time...

If you have good bankrole management you shuldnt loose your whole bankrole when you are on tilt. But when im tilting i try to stay off the tables

wow that's really interesting article, I'm tilting all the time so no hints for now, but accepting your weaknesses is the way to progressing isn't it ?

Considering this is an old thread its still nice to read. well for me of course coz i havent read this. And yah this actually true to my case when i get tilt. I lose more investments and get none in return. Glad ive read this thread its nice to know and will surely make my game better now. I may now have an idea on dealing my tilts. 🙂

Long Post

Got to say your post about TILT is one of the longest I've read but it kept my interest to the end. Now I know what TILT means in the world of poker and I thank you for that. I'll try using some of your tips at the tables. Which reminds me, good luck at the tables.

I used to get so bad on tilt I had to write real big on a piece of paper......
"You can't control luck. You can only control how you react to it."
I put this above my computer until one day I got sucked out on terribly and ripped it to shreads.
