I have been playing for almost 2 years now and i have had some sick turns, and now i honestly feel like quiting my poker career for good, i played on a swedish poker site before and over my career im up about 5000$.
I taught that i had to take it to another level so i started playing at pokerstars and i have kept loosing and loosing and loosing again, i have won some few sessions to later loose it all. Today i had 620$ and decided to play sngs, i played 15$ STT and was up 70$. I later took a long 3 hours break and started playing again, now about 2 hours later im at 525$ which is -170$ its INSANE. how can this happen ? i lost every JJ vs A8, every coinflip i lost everything. that 170$ ment the world to me.
Dont know what to do anymore...
If someone know a secure and not too slow way to make my 525$ to 800$ and growing, i would be delighted.
Thanks guys...
PS. I Really want to have poker as a living believe me i do give me some advice guys

If that $170 meant the world to you.....than what does the $525 left mean to you?

On a serious note..if you want..i can PM you my name and you can ship your money to me as an investment?

Let me know.

Youre playing outside of your limits. If the money is affecting your decisions then you need to play lower levels.

PattyR 525$ means literally the world to me, 170$ means reaallly much for me,

xUnrated I think you´re right what would you suggest that i should play ? which limits or how many buyins ? thanks !

Here's your new plan courtesy of your newfound friend, AKA PattyR, AKA ME.

1.) Try 10NL Cash Games
2.) Start your own thread on here tracking your progress
3.) You have 52 freakin buy ins....i would say start at 25NL but i wanna see if you suck or not and 10NL will lower the blow on your BR.
4.) Play 10NL tables, after mmmm 10K hands post a graph or some sort of results and decide if you should move up to 25NL (i'll help ya.)
5.) Thank me lots
6.) Pay me
7.) ^Joking
8.) ^^ But seriously 😎

lol at asking how 11 BI downswing can happen. If you don't understand how that can happen then $15s is too high.

This graph stuffs i´m not good at, care to guide me through it ?
Yes i´ll start with Nl10 i´ll neeever ever play with >40 BIs again.

Get tracking software (HEM2/PT3), it makes the pretty graphs for you.

I agree you should drop down, see if you can beat 10nl cos 25nl doesn't seem to be working out for you right now.

HEM and PT3 seems to not work for me, some postgres error, i can´t afford it right now either.. =/

Worth taking $45 for micro version out of your BR for it imo, you'd still have plenty for 10nl. So worth it. That's the last time I try to sell it to you, just buy it already!

OK. If i buy it how long time would i need to wait to use it ? is it instantly or does it take days or weeks ? Which software PT3 or HEM is it worth to buy the big one instead of micro or should i have micro untill i got money over for the full version ? Thanks!

As for limits, lets say in an $11 tournament you get scared to call even though its the right decision then you arent ready for that buy in. If the money you are risking matters to you then you are out of your limit. Which is usually relative to the change in your BR as to how much it will affect you. The loss isnt going to hit you hard until you look at your BR number. Stay at buy ins that wont freak you out if you make no profit.

i don't know what stars games are like since BF. before, the games were tough at 25nl and $16 STT's. obviously beatable for the top players but it isn't/wasn't easy to beat those levels. and it don't help when your on a horrific bad streak.
where have most of your profits come from?

i always found STT's to be easier and less stressful than cash. if you are comfortable multi-tabling STT's then i would focus on them but play the lower levels. just play as many tables as you can comfortably handle.
idk stars buy-in levels, pre BF it was $6.50 turbos and then jumped to $16. you could easily profit $10+/hr on average at the $6.50's back then playing 16+ table sessions.
not a lot of $$$ but enough to live on.

I´ll focus on CG playing with 40 BIs+, i´l have to play NL10 which will take really long time to get to like 1000$, only have 525$ now but i can´t risk losing it all.
My total 5000$ i´ve earned on the other site was all Tournaments, was like often 50-100 players kinda small site, pokerstars is totally different.

Works immediately. Both good. I got PT3 and love it. Get micro now, upgrade later (you don't have to pay the full amount for the big one when upgrading from micro)

haha, im pretty sure you couldn´t use a software as PT3 or HEM on that site so everything was about your own game without any help so maybe therefor i could win there but not on Stars because i didn´t use any software....But now i´ll use PT3 !
COME AT ME BRO !😛

My gawd dude - playing without a HUD is playing with a severe handicap. It's not even close.

I also reached a point where if I lost my stake online I was just going to quit. I considered myself a tight player at the time but went even tighter and started seeing my graph go up, up, up. I went from a relatively new player who had spent several hundred trying to learn how to play (includes online play, books, websites, DVDs, etc) and wondering if I would ever get it back to earning thousands in winnings (5 figures). It all started with just tightening up which started a 7 month run of profit (before a bad month kicked my ass).

As I have heard and read many coaches say - "There are very few players I have met who couldn't benefit from playing tighter."

For me this meant going from feeling like I had to see a flop anytime I had a pocket pair to realizing the best thing to do with 66 when there is a raise and reraise is to get out of the hand. This among other things.

OK mediablitz thanks for the reply !
Its a cool software, well how many hands do you guys think you have to play with someone to have as a sample so you can judge if their tight, loose, semiloose etc... ?
30VP is loose i know that kinda stuffs now, what is tight between... is that like less than 20 VP ?? Thanks !

EDIT. Found this.. do you guys think this seems right ?
< 14% is very tight.
14% - 23% is tight.
23% - 32% is semi-loose.
32% - 40% is loose.
40%+ is very loose.

Ok so these guys have all convinced you that you need a HUD, fine. I dont buy it completely but its cool since you have now spent the money. Your first problem, above choosing a limit/buy-in is you are scared. Scared money does not play well. It plays tight at the wrong times and loose at the even more wrong times. Forget multi-table play for a few days/weeks, just focus on the players within the table you are sitting. And as for table selection, that is a major deal to consider. Just taking any old seat is not always the best choice obviously, you want to scout out the tables and look to take advantage of how the table is playing. This could be sitting at an extremely tight table where the players at the flop is a low % or looking to get in on some action at a table where you have 30-50% at the flop(this is where you want to play tighter obviously and make good, solid folds).

Regardless of whatever HUDonkey software you are running, look at the players and table for what it is at that time, not what it could be or 'should' be. Learn to change up your play more to fit in with the table you are at than to simply look at graphs and previous play from others.

PS I am not discounting the use of an HUD, a solid HUD that is, nor am I recommending one. There is a time and place, you are in neither it would seem right now.

The most important advice I can add to this discussion is to play at
a level you feel comfortable at,
not scared!
As rob123 said "Scared money does not play well.”

The HUD will help you look back at your game and see where you are losing
where you are winning and what you need to get better.
Too many poker players DON’T look back enough.

PT3 is well worth the money

😎

There has been quite a bit of good advise given but the best has to be about playing with "scared money" , it is like fighting with handcuffs on. You won't make raises calls etc. that you really should because you are afraid to lose . It takes your mind to a survival mode when you should be trying to win. Don't do it ,it almost always works out badly.

Shaun Deeb is handicapped. Guess he prolly wins severely more SCOOP titles had he been using a HUD.

Play a few $200 HU sng's & just go for it imo. Then at least you got a decent roll to play with when you win.
