In casino games, how much do you think is luck and how much is player behaviour?

Obviously the house has the mathematical advantage, but I think our decisions about bet size, session length and when to walk away can make a huge difference.

What do you think matters most?

I think it's mostly luck, but I do change up my bet sizes to try "trigger" a win or something...lol. It's all in my head.

The games themselves are 100% luck since the house always has the math on their side - You can't beat the house edge in the long run just by changing how you play - However, player behavior matters a lot when it comes to keeping your money....Deciding when to walk away- managing your bankroll and not chasing losses won't change your luck, but it stops you from going broke...

Luck determines the short-term outcome, but behavior determines the long-term one. The casino has a fixed mathematical edge, but the player has a variable edge: discipline. If you manage bet size, session length, and when to stop, you reduce the impact of luck and increase control. Basically, luck is noise, behavior is signal.

I think mostly luck - since the house mostly wins, it goes down to making right decisions and luck loL!!!

Luck is crucial. No skills will help you—forget it, that’s nonsense. Nothing but luck.

In poker its 100% skill fame for infinite sample size because for infinite sample size expected value has to merge with mundane world value

Seriously?
Do you think that in online poker everything depends 100% on your skill?
I assure you, the time will come when you realize you were mistaken 🙂

Player behaviour can make the distribution of outcomes worse, but none of those outcomes are positive.

Casino games are 100% luck for a win, but the amount of the win is determined by the player's choice
of bet amount and machine. Then again, on the desision of leaving or keep the win.

People are obsessed with professional players, believing they possess some incredible set of skills, though—honestly—99% of the time when I watch poker on TV, people play exactly the way I would expect.Do you really think famous professionals possess secret tactics that the rest of us are incapable of understanding? They are simply the luckiest players to have reached that level of mastery.Poker is a game that requires a multitude of skills: the ability to manage a bankroll, select games, and control emotions.

I agree, poker takes more skill than people give it credit for, especially when luck evens out.
