Imagine you start with $100 and quickly turn it into $250.

Would you cash out, lock away your original $100, or keep playing?

I'm curious how others decide when a winning session is good enough to stop.

The gambler in me says never, the Accountant in me says as soon as I see it start going down after about 5 or so spins with no wins.

when I have a million bucks. then. else Keep going. 😅 or keep on trying.🤔

Well, once you finish the tournaments you had scheduled to play—I usually already have a list of the ones I like to play, so that’s what I do

When Do You Stop a Winning Session?

I am a recreational casino player and I don't really study much 😆 (I did improve a lot tho after the introduction of the Casino section on the CC community, lots of interesting and useful threads); so, I just use similar strategy as for poker - especially for bankroll management and the length of my sessions... I don't care that much about short-term results, so in this case if I start with $100 and quickly turn it into $250 - I'm just playing and hope for the good run to continue until I finish my session 💲💸💰

I would have taken the money and gone home when I had $150. I wouldn't have even played up to $250.

yeah I get that, $150 would be a pretty nice spot to cash out and lock in the profit.

I’m a scalper when it comes to poker and casino games. 🎯 Once I win, I quit or withdraw my profits, leaving only enough funds to maintain my bankroll. 💰📈

that’s pretty much my style too, lock up the profit and leave enough to keep the bankroll going.

If I turn $100 into $250, I’d cash out the original $100 immediately and keep the $150 profit in play.
I’d set a hard stop, though—once that profit drops to a certain level, I’m done. No giving back a big win just because I think I can push it higher.

Would cash out & walk away with the 150% winning. Enjoy the feeling of being a winner for a day before loosing everything again the next day.

I would set aside $100 and keep playing with the remaining $150. You shouldn't pass up a night like that if luck is truly on your side. I’d try to build up a more substantial amount—say, $1,000.

I like that plan, but getting from $250 to $1,000 without giving much back would be the hard part.

Well, it depends on the game, poker or blackjack, I keep going till it slows down.
Any casino game, and I double my money; I am looking for the door. (including blackjack, unless it was very quick)

That’s a pretty solid rule, especially doubling up and walking away before giving it all back.

lol fair enough, that’s one way to make sure you never cash out too early 😂

Just gamble those 250$ away, don’t be a rat, all or nothing

Knowing when to retire is the most important skill in gambling. The golden rule is that you must stop a winning session when you reach your profit goal.
Since casinos have a long-term mathematical advantage, the more time you spend playing, the more likely you are to return your winnings.

The longer you play a game where the house has the edge, the greater your chance of not leaving with your money.
