spinning it up

Never heard of spinning "at a poker table".

Taking a small amount of money and buying directly into the highest stakes that the money will allow, attempting to 'spin it up' to a massive amount quickly.

Nice one, but I don't see how I can apply it here. If it's $1, it's almost useless.
I can never, ever, say useless about a bird (Unless it's dead).

No matter how many times I tried, I always made the wrong decision. So after about five attempts, I gave up—though I didn't try very hard to begin with.

not sure of this option but knowing me I'll probably double if I don't care or winning is small and leave if it's big enough

Yeah, I know those kinds of slot machines. There was an underground poker club in my town that also had slot machines. And there was a game where you could double your winnings by guessing a card. To be honest, I often played the card-guessing game and won a lot. I really liked that game. It was called “Garage,” if I'm not mistaken. :)

What do you call "wrong decision"? Double, or not?
Did you win 5 times and tried to double 5 times?

Fair enough. If It's a somewhat big enough win, taking it is much better than taking the risk of giving it back.

I like taking risks, but honestly, if It's an ok win, like 5 times my original investment, I'd take it, anything less, I'd gamble.

I get offered double or nothing every time I win on Video Poker (888), I always decline - it's 0 EV ad just increases the variance, if I wanted to play double I would double my stake.

Definitely a sucker bet.
But when It's just a small amount, I do take it. Whether I double it or I let them have it.

No need to give back any winnings, yes. But if you bet $1 and win $1, why not take the chance?

For you, online casino players.
Whenever you hit something, some online casinos offer you the option of doubling the amount won or lose it by gambling on a high/low card for example.
Do you take your winning or do you gamble?
Most of the time, I'd take the win and move on. Those double-or-nothing features are exciting, but they're usually just another wager where you're risking money you've already won. It's easy to turn a good result into nothing in a matter of seconds.
I can understand the temptation, especially after a small win when the downside doesn't feel as significant. But from a bankroll management perspective, locking up profits is usually the more disciplined choice. If I'm going to gamble, I'd rather do it with money I planned to risk from the start than with winnings I've already earned." 🎰♠️💰

Yeah, you're right, Sami! The size of the prize is definitely very important. ;)

It depends. If I’m just playing for fun, sometimes I take the double-or-nothing risk. But if I hit a decent win, I prefer to cash it out instead of giving it back to the casino. The double feature is designed to tempt you, not to make you rich!!!

Great points you made there.
1st of all, that double or nothing is just a sucker bet. Ofc, you can win it, but how many times?
And you're right also about the BR management point.

Definitely true. It's certainly designed to increase the house edge.
