Gambling away your poker buy-in before the game starts?

THE EVER PRESENT TEMPTATION!

Every time I go to the casino to play poker , and I have to wait on a list to get a seat, I end up in the casino and gamble away. My buy in for poker before Poker⁩ even begins. Does anybody else have this very same problem?

I really have no interest in the casino games, much rather stay at the poker table.

You would just have to learn from it & next time be better. It actually happens but to happen every time is not learning the lesson

.

Some tips:
1. Bring more money.

2. If the list is long to get seated, get out awhile & grab a coffee from Starbucks.
3. Stay in the area & watch a table playing.
4. Avoid roaming around the casino because if you are easily tempted a fool would soon be parted from his money.

Sorry to hear this mate ... from what you have stated, it does appear that "discipline" may to be your issue. Lack of discipline can certainly also affect your poker playing too, does it?
We all have some kinds of weaknesses in our poker playing skills, I know I do.

Your problem is that you simply lack discipline. And this is indeed a problem that will never allow you to achieve consistently good results. You just have to understand that your discipline is the key to earning income from gambling. No discipline means no income.

I don't have that problem because when I plan to go gambling, I usually have a clear idea of what I'm going to play and how much I'm willing to spend. I rarely change my plans.

It did happen to me one time, but never again. I went to play a tournament. Bud since I had a room, I went one day before the event. I got there in the evening and figured I'd have some fun, then go upstairs, relax and be ready at 10am to play.
Unfortunately. I had a bad blackjack session and soon I was playing with the tourney buy-in. Lost it ofc and spent the rest of the evening watching some stupid TV till I fell asleep.

I play online, so I don't have that problem. But even when it comes to live casinos, I always go to play specific games and rarely pay attention to anything else.

I know the feeling. Waiting for a poker seat makes it really tempting to gamble. I try to avoid the casino floor until my seat is ready, you’re definitely not the only one with this problem.

This has happened to me too. Not every time, of course, but it did happen, especially when I was drinking. It's hard to stick to your plan when there's so much entertainment around

floor managers gotta love the waitlist list for this exact reason. it's a trap man! gotta force yourself to leave your poker cash in your pocket and strictly pay cash for a coffee while you wait.

I would never gamble away my poker buy-in before a tournament. If I set money aside for poker, I want to use it for poker. Good bankroll management is important, and I think it's better to stay disciplined than take unnecessary risks before the game even starts.

You need to make up your mind, do you want to throw away your money on slot machines or whatever or play poker? I haven't been to a casino for probably 20 years now, and poker cash games are a dead loss. Stick to tournaments, preferably on-line where you can not only multitask but play for much smaller stakes.

No, I've never spent my poker buy-in on anything else. But I've often spent more than I could afford on betting and poker, so I understand what you're talking about

As I understand it, your main problem is excessive emotions. I think the only thing that can help you is to thoroughly study how to control yourself while playing poker. It's difficult, and not all players are able to control their emotions. But it's essential for success.

No, I have discipline and access to more money in my back account. If I didn't have access to more money I wouldn't be playing poker.

i bring my eyeglasses and a good book to pass the time while waiting for a seat on a poker table . if a cardplayer magazine is available i will glance thru that .
