YES! A dealer drove this point home to me. He said, "If you are going to hit 16, you need to always do it " (when the math dictates that you should).Basic blackjack strategy isn't about intuition, but pure statistics. Every decision (hit, stand, double, split) is calculated based on the long-term probability of winning or losing. For example, while hitting with a 16 against the dealer's 10 seems risky, mathematically it's better than standing because the expected value is less negative.
I'm of the same mind. And I have seen those bonus bets hit numerous times (I've gotten them, though, not $130,000... 😥 ). If you're rolled for it, and you know the risk/reward, but still want to gamble a bit, I don't see a problem with it myself.I enjoyed reading the post. I think I play basic strategy well, but it was cool to see the actual odds.
I was thinking about putting $5 on the side bet for 7's because the payout for three 7s of diamonds was $130,000
I know the odds are very high, but man, that's a lot of cash lol. You also get paid something for 1-3 7's, but I was wondering what the odds for those were.
Blackjack is about the math, but is it worth it to go with it a few times here and there, knowing I can still come out on top
from a proper basic strategy?
