Why do modern video slots often have hundreds of paylines (or even “ways to win”) instead of the classic 1–5 lines found on old mechanical machines?
 
I think modern slots use more paylines mainly to create more winning opportunities and make the games feel more exciting. The “ways to win” format also gives developers more flexibility to create bigger, more dynamic games than the old mechanical machines. 🎰
