This one is a true little story.

There was a big poker event at the Borgata (AC) and I decided to go. Once there, I couldn't even get to the parking lot as crowded as it was. So, I decided to go park at the nearest casino and take one of those little buses that go around to go back. Somehow, I ended up at the Taj. The parking lot was almost empty. I got curious and I went inside. There were people there but a lot less than usual. Then I remembered that I had a Taj card and went to the front desk to see, with very little conviction, if I have a room as comp. I had played there (One time) a few months earlier.
Surprisingly, the girl said: "Sure you do sir, would you like to check in?". As I was thinking about it (I had no room at the Borgata), she added: "Oh, I can even upgrade it to a suite if you want to only pay its tax".
That's what competition does!

What would you do? Pay $35 for a suite? Or settle for a regular free room?

PS: Regular room = $295 a night on weekends and special events.

If you are only going to sleep there then no reason to upgrade, but if you are going to be doing some work, or playing poker, or hanging out with friends, etc - then the suite is a great deal.

But I have to say that the suite experience was worth every second too.

And thank you Diva. In fact, yesterday's tournament only confirms what I've always said: "Poker is the craziest, the weirdest and the most interesting and enjoyable game ever". If someone doesn't believe in miracles, ask them to play it.

But playing against friends for a real prize or in an important event has always been hard for me.

Years ago my wife and I were spending the night at the capitol city of our country. We had booked a regular room, arrived on time and got our key cards.
So upstairs we went and opened the door... only to find three Asian men sitting on the bed in a ring formation, wearing only their underwear and playing cards.
We closed the door as soon as we could and stormed back to the lobby. They were surprisingly unapologetic about it, but we managed to get bumped up to a really nice suite for the same price.
