Sports betting vs Online casino

I have been betting on sports for over 20 years, and I can say with certainty that I have been consistently making money from it for the last 5-7 years. I bet on soccer, analysing the teams' statistics beforehand and placing bets based on my knowledge and experience. I place 30-50 bets per week, depending on the season, and have a fairly good additional income for me, which averages about 30% per year.
As for playing at online casinos, I have also been playing for about 20 years, but in essence, I do not earn money on this, but rather spend money, although in 20 years I have gained experience and have the necessary knowledge.
So, my question is: is it worth spending time at a casino if your primary and priority goal is to make money?
I'm not looking for sky-high results, but even a 3-5% increase in my bankroll per month would be a great result for me. Is it realistic to achieve this, and are there any members of our community who have achieved such results? Please share your experience.

What reasonable person expects to make long-term profits playing slots or casinos when, from the start, their chances of losing are greater than those of winning? And as for bookmakers, they have an army of professionals who calculate and analyze everything. I'm not saying that you can't make a profit. I've also known a lot about soccer since I was a child, watching as many games as I can because I like it. But what you think you know or don't know about soccer doesn't matter at all when it comes to betting.

In general, and you said it yourself; sports betting is much safer than playing casino games online.
But I'm not encouraging people to jump on sports betting or anything. I can't recall how many times I bet on a big favorite team to win, only to see the underdog getting a penalty kick at the 90th minute and wins or ties the game.
Sports betting needs a lot of knowledge and money to be able to make many bets, some of them only to cover the eventual losses in others.

I like sports betting more because I can use what I know about teams and players. With slots or casino games, it's just luck and goes too fast sometimes.

As my friends' statistics show, they certainly have negative statistics on sports. Although they sometimes withdraw large sums of money. Earning money at work is betting for pleasure.

I think that sometimes you can allow yourself to relax by playing your favorite slots, roulette, or blackjack. online casinos are more about emotions than profits. Although I can't call betting a stable source of income either.

Sports betting is in our hand but casino not in our hand . So for me always sports betting. If someone say put your all networth and you have two options sports betting or casino I will choose sports betting always!

I agree with you. Sports betting is definitely a more realistic way to make money. If you have sufficient knowledge and adhere to at least the basic principles of bankroll management, then you can say that you have the foundation to earn money.

3-5% is realistic. I know players who make 5-10%, and this is not the result of one or two months, but rather the result and statistics over many years. It is entirely possible to achieve such percentages if you have sufficient knowledge of the sport in which you specialise.

No its obviously not worth spending money in a casino if your primarily goal is to make money, lol. Thats a funny one which u could have answered yourself actually.

Shocking revelation: I probably make more money on casino than I do from sportsbetting annually. The trick is to mostly or only play casino with free vouchers and free spins

Lately however casino free stuff have been getting kinda bad on the poker sites, even unibet (most generous site towards me) has been lacking giving anything meaningful so the money is getting kinda slim.

Sportsbetting on the other hand, I only bet on the games that I watch myself kinda as a hobby to make the games more entertaining and my results are mostly breakeven, maybe slightly winning. I am winning on Unibet slightly over the year 2025 but on my other sites I am not sure whether I am winning or not since they don't have easy to track history. I have been planning on starting like sportsbetting notebook to track down my results since I actually have feeling that my other sites are going better than Unibet or maybe that's just short-term bias since those other sites generally offer better odds for niche bets where the odds are bigger and therefore winnings per bet are naturally higher but they are less likely to win than straight up Team A wins bets where Unibet offers usually the better odds.

There is extremely good chance that 2026 sportsbetting wise will be better for me than casino. I'd love to have side bet about that. There are some great offers in sportsbetting at the moment, free bets etc, those make it for sure worth it as a hobby - Very pleasurable!

Betting, like poker, can generate income, which I think is obvious to most players. Other gambling games are essentially losses by default. Is it realistic to make 5% on a deposit by betting on sporting events? Yes, it is definitely realistic, and there are many players who make money this way. But the deposit for this must be large enough.

Different players have different opinions. Not everyone thinks the same way you do, and just because you think a certain way does not mean that it is the only correct option.

Sports betting is practically a casino! I once placed a bet at 1.19 and lost. The team won, but in overtime...

You seem very self aware so I would stick to what works for you. I dont see much hope with improving your ROI with online casinos.

Yes, I do place bets, but I do the opposite. I only bet on randoms since it's more profitable than betting on the favorite, who often loses. But I mostly focus on reward challenges and tournaments; I do a little bit of everything. The goal is always the same: to make it to the end of the month, pay rent, buy groceries, and have a beer.
