Recent news about online gambling in Brazil (land-based casinos were already banned):

Well, it looks like Brazilians won't be able to gamble anymore, not even online... Is gambling allowed in your country?

Here, as you've seen, no type of casino is allowed—neither land-based nor online. Good luck with your games!

So, after reading the link... That is a political stunt?
I have no knoledge of the inner workings of Brazil but isn't your president trying to get re-elected? So this must have a public support?

WoW - that's kinda crazy news... I'm from Romania and I thought we had it tough because of the government, we had quite a few unexpected (bad) regulations regarding gambling too, but nothing close to this... I'm not sure what to say, I've said on the community that IMO the poker players from Brazil are the best/toughest opponents (I've seen a lot of similar opinions) and at least on the sites I play, there were a lot of players from Brazil - I think this will affect many people economically and most likely your country too... hopefully something will change and we'll see our Brazilian community members at the tales soon 🙏

Well, I can’t say for sure, but from what I gathered from that article "An Atlas/Bloomberg poll published on 23 September found 75 percent of Brazilians think online betting should be banned, Exame reported". Let's see how things unfold from here on out... The elections here are next Sunday! Good luck to you!

Poker isn't considered a “game of chance,” so Brazilians can play poker and participate in national and international tournaments—there are even several poker clubs here—but betting on games of chance is prohibited... until there's another change. Good luck to you!

Our government is keen on banning online gambling, yet it continues to authorize online gambling sites for those who can afford the necessary licensing fees. So what does this say about our country? It feels like nothing more than lip service to the people.

Here, as you’ve seen, betting is now completely banned. Thankfully, poker tournaments and poker clubs are allowed—there are many Brazilians competing in tournaments all over the world! Good luck to you, Regie!

I know. Brazil is currently leading in GG wsop. There's a lot of superior Brazilian poker pros, both online and live. I hope they won't block online poker.

That's extremely unfortunate but at least poker is still a left and a lot of Brazilians play that on many platforms without issues.

Casino operations in Ukraine are subject to very strict regulations. Obtaining a license is extremely difficult. There are also certain issues with online gaming, though the situation isn't critical just yet.

Don't worry, Billi; this ban only affects online betting sites—the so-called "bets." For now, we can still play poker, both online and live.

So, for the time being, we'll still see each other at the poker tables. Best regards.😉

Hi, Jay!

We don’t have a casino culture here, since they were banned in 1946, and some forms of online gambling are relatively new (I think they started in 2018), so people started gambling a lot, which led to significant financial losses. Fortunately, poker is considered a mind sport, among other things, and is allowed here.

I read this article, which says:

“Participation in poker games and tournaments in Brazil is legal, as long as the applicable rules are followed.”

Source: https://vlvadvogados.com/e-legal-participar-de-partidas-e-torneios-de-poker-no-brasil/

Good luck to you, and may you have nothing but good pfffs 😂 !

Only gambling is prohibited—luckily, poker is considered a game of skill, so it's allowed! Phew and Pfff! Hugs!

Everything used to be much simpler. But every year in most countries more and more strict norms and rules are established, and every year the choice of sites for playing becomes smaller. A bad trend.

where I’m from, gambling is pretty restricted too, especially online betting. So yeah, I get why people are surprised by changes like this

They want to ban online gambling to prevent addiction, nine days before the election. The president compared gambling addiction to crack stone in announcing a ban on betting.

Meanwhile:
- Betting sites (with state control) is legal
- Possessing up to 40 grams of marijuana for personal use is no longer a criminal offense.
- Cigarettes are legal.

It seems a bit contradictory, doesn't it?

Some things are contradictory, others are debatable... I think some song lyrics should also be illegal, but then there's the issue of freedom of expression... Good luck to you!

The problem is that those sites operate with absolutely no regulation, and became a huge problem in Brazil. The Federal Police fount that many of them are owned by the organized crime.
People are losing billions of dollars in these sites, and anyone can say if they are rigged or not.
Based in the absurd profits they are achieving, it's very obvious that the games are manipulated to make the player loose as money as possible.
IN time, this law is about only cassino games, poker was not affected.

Yes, and I hope poker continues to be treated for what it is: a mind sport! Good luck to you!
