Yes, definitely! I think it relates to aspects such as weak willpower, temperament type, lack of experience in gambling, low intelligence and excessive pride. Even a few aspects are enough to be overly gambling.

At the extreme end of heavy gamblers it attracts impulsive, thrill seeking personalites who are more likely to seek sexual novelty. Of course, people who enjoy a flutter here and there will tend towards the average.

Obviously, there are people who are more prone to risk than others. It is difficult to say whether this depends on temperament or individual character traits. Personally, I divide players into three types. Players who play for fun, players who play for money, and players who play because of their addiction.

Regarding poker.

Most people familiar with and passionate about strategy video games are likely also familiar with poker, and their curiosity as usual, will lead them to try it, just like the previous games. They will certainly enjoy it, and they will especially enjoy the tournaments😁

Honestly I think it's mostly two types. You got the thrill-seekers who just crave that fast dopamine hit when a multiplier lands, and then you got the hyper-analytical guys who think they can outsmart the house with mathematical systems or strategy. Both usually end up losing in the long run anyway, but the motivation is completely different.

I think that the dopamine deficient,( ADD, ADHD ), are more likely to enjoy gambling. As others have said there are different types of gamblers : I consider poker to primarily be a game of skill with a gambling element. Just as about 10ish% percent of people who drink alcohol will develop a problem, I would say the percentage is about the same for problem gamblers. One of the main reasons I quit playing poker for a living in 2009 was the realization that I was making my living off gambling addicts....
