I'm watching this show for the second time since it's now on netflix. How did they do it? They said they all started with the minimum deposit and built it up, one was a millionaire a year later. What games did they play to build it up? Holdem. Cash games? sng? mtt? Just curious as to what is the best way to build your bankroll up online.

Can you give us a brief rundown of how you got started online?

I started out at small stakes and ricocheted around. I took lots of shots at bigger stakes with very loose bankroll management and was, of course, continually knocked down. But I was getting better. I liked playing at higher stakes against much stronger opponents. I’d learn, and then I’d experiment at my new stakes, rinse and repeat. I tried not to mimic any one player but instead developed my own identity.

How quickly did you move up the levels?

I moved up from $ 2/$ 4 to $ 25/$ 50 in more or less the standard fashion. Then I ran really hot at $ 50/$ 100 and moved higher within the course of a week, then after that summer became a regular at $ 100/$ 200 to $ 300/$ 600.

Thats the only one I know was on there but it shouldnt be too hard to find out the others stories, i found that out in <30secs.

Good article. I noticed he mentioned the high stakes he plays online. Most US players will not put that type of money into play online cause of how difficult it is to get the money paid out. If I was to go and play in a tournament online and win say 500,000 I would not even be excited cause I bet the site would never pay me out. Cause most limit how much you can get a month. The time it would take to get all that. People have trouble getting paid a few hundred dollars.

that show was created when FTP was legal and the laws were lax and stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if those guys lost a lot of $$ on black friday.

You have to remember these guys took shots and ran it up quick, but not in today's games... You could have taken shots and printed money a handful of years ago as well!

I thought the series was very disappointing.

#1) For a show whose whole basis was seeing if a group of guy's could make two million playing poker in two months - well there was damn little actual poker.

#2) And boy did they make Kranz look like the village idiot - yet he made more than any of them.

Just downloaded and crushed through the entire season after reading this thread. Pretty entertaining show. I think it's pretty awesome how poker can turn a bunch of nerds into ballerz in Las Vegas.

Might be where he is located... I'm pretty sure the US and Canada content is different. I could be wrong though.
