Let's imagine that you choose to play strictly any pair, any suited connectors and AKo. That would give you a 10% vpip. At full ring, there is about 1-(1-0.1)^9 = 61% chance that someone has one of those very legitimate hands to open, so the majority of hands will be played with players in it who have this very high implied odds hand.

At 6max, there's only 1-(1-0.1)^6=0.47% chance of someone having a hand in this range. That means a small majority of the hands will be played with no one have a really strong implied odds hand.

Of course, since chances are higher at 6max that no one has a really legitimate opening hand, that's a reason for stealing more. And since people steal more, that's a reason to 3bet light more. And since people 3bet lighter, that's a reason to 4bet bluff more. Also, since this dynamic tends to create bigger preflop pots, it decreases the typical stack to pot ratio on the flop and that affects your optimal opening range and the strength of the postflop hands you're willing to stack with.

Finally, note that when UTG, UTG+1 and UTG+2 fold at FR, you're effectively playing 6max (although hands a statistically a tiny little bit stronger as the 3 first players had somewhat trashy hands that they chose to muck)
