For those who have been playing poker for a long time, it is a very time-consuming game. When they sat down from 2pm and came back they saw until 5pm. The doctors said to themselves, “I'll just sit for an hour,” and in the blink of an eye, the clock is only 11 o'clock at night and the end of the day.
In fact, I think, playing poker, in order to reach satisfaction, it's enough to play three to four hours. But to call it a real challenge, five to 12 hours is too stressful. And I tell you the truth, when you sit too long with a brain-weighing game like poker, you can really go crazy even if you're mentally unsound. The feeling of tiredness of having no cards to play, drowsiness, hunger, incline to a bad rhythm and a lot of negative emotions and accumulation of you will be like going on an “emotional train”.

When I was a student, I once played for 23 hours at a poker club at one table, playing cash games in NL Holdem, with short breaks of 5-10 minutes🙂☕
I don't remember how the game ended + or - , but it was definitely fun and very interesting^.^

As long as you're healthy, you can endure such a marathon in life. Later, you reassess, and everyone chooses a convenient time and preferred format for playing poker.

Less time playing (2–4 hours) and more time studying strategy, reviewing hand stories, and improving mental game skills.

When playing a tournament, if you don't get eliminated later, about 2 to 4 of the game is enough, depending on your time you can take 1 hour of rest, or more, then you can search for another tournament that you like.

I can definitely relate to that. Time flies when you're deep in a session, especially in tournaments. I've learned that playing longer doesn't always mean playing better. Once I start feeling tired or losing focus, my decision-making drops off. I'd rather play a shorter, high-quality session than grind for hours when I'm no longer at my best.

If you don't have much time to play, focus on Cash Game or Turbo Sit and Go. Tournaments with Blinds above 10 minutes usually take more than 4 hours; it's not worth dedicating that time if you won't be able to play the final stretch.
