AA or KK: Which Do You Prefer? (edit note: previous title was AK or KK, but original post is AA or KK)

Easily KK it is well ahead. Yep an ace may come to some one with with ak, but a k does not help them and they still have to hit. But obviously this is a preflop question. But while I would rather have the kk with ak if the hand is played through and you hit a king on the flop your also not worried about an ace hitting which is nice.

If the question is AA or KK then I'm certainly in the AA camp,
What's better that getting dealt a hand that's going to win 80% of the time???

If the question is AK or KK I'm certainly in the KK camp,
vs a strong all in range of say JJ+ AK, or 99+ AQs+ AK the pocket Kings have much more equity

You also don't have to worry about that oh so frustrating situation where your AK faces a small pair like 22 or 44 all in preflop.

Call me old fashioned if you will, but I pretty much always go with the hand that has the better change of winning (and according to my database has won me more lifetime) :angel:

I'll go with the pre made hand of pocket Kings. AK is a good hand but it's a drawing hand and never fun getting it all in preflop for your tournament life praying to hit or have the best hand after devoting many hours to get to that point. Sure AK blocks Aces and Kings but it's always nicer having a made hand. I'll take the Cowboys and ride em' into the sunset.

I think KK is better because he has a pair already formed and AK has three outs and other chances like a straight or flush but KK pair I think is better.

KK has more chances to win but if an A has entered the table or as it happens most of the time 10 J and Q is 0 with KK in hand.

of course KK. Versus random hand it has 82% equity. AK only 66% and it's much harder to realize your equity postflop

I will take KK for sure! I would also take KK over AA as crazy as that may sound. I would honestly take AK over AA as well! I do not like AA. I lose so frequently I look at AA as a trap hand. I can never get away from playing AA, of course, however I lose more than I win with AA! Pocket aces is cursed! I never go all when I get it anymore. I'll get called by some joker with 6 4 and they'll hit a straight happens almost every time.

KK is the better starting hand of course, but it has a magnetic attraction to drawing an ace to the top of the deck. I think I win more with K 10.

as stated above, at least with KK you already have a pair - the 2nd highest possible pair at that.
When it's not going my way though and I get KK and am at the stage when I go all in, it's depressingly inevitable that someone will call me with Ace-rag off-suit and, sure as night follows day, an ace will come on the community cards and that's my night over.
