AK off suit i think are the best hole cards pre flop simply because of the higher card the QK even tho suited wud b the underdog and having to hit

Heads up it is even, I believe, but either or, AK as a starting hand is a better hand because of the A, but I have folded both at certain times.

Unless your OP has the A 10 suited and the flop comes flushed, then you are screwed.

AKo over KQs, for sure. Here is why:

  1. AKo crushes KQs 1v1: 70.42% equity vs 29.58% equity
  2. Against any 2 cards, AKo has 65.32% equity, while KQs has 63.40%
  3. It's 3 times more likely to be dealt AKo than KQs
    AKo: 12 ways ( A:spade:K:heart:, A:spade:K:diamond:, A:spade:K:club:, A:heart:K:spade:, A:heart:K:diamond:, A:heart:K:club:, A:diamond:K:spade:, A:diamond:K:heart:, A:diamond:K:club:, A:club:K:spade:, A:club:K:heart:, A:club:K:diamond: )
    KQs: 4 ways ( K:spade:Q:spade:, K:heart:Q:heart:, K:diamond:Q:diamond:, K:club:Q:club: )
  4. AKo is a top 4-6% hand, while KQs is a top 6-8% (rank varies depending on number of opponents)
  5. Against a top 15% hand, AKo has 60.14% equity, while KQs has only 45.64%

Well, AK has the better odds of winning pre-flop, so I would go with that.

Naturally, I choose AKo. They are much stronger than suited KQ, because their suited does not equalize Queen with Ace in strength.

AK off suit over KQs any day.

I certainly like to play against opponents who would prefer weaker hands based on some superstition or bad luck experience.

AK off. you are ahead. KQ suited can still be beat with your Ace high flush

I prefer KQ of the same suit, I think it gives me more option to improve the game post flop at least it is my preference beyond statistics or that a priori is a weaker game than ak

Obviously AKo, as Kenny Rogers said "Every hand's a winner & every hand's a loser", but suited cards tend to fool, usually less skilled players..
Cuz they LOOK good/better, but considering the small odds of catching a flush, they aren't much better...

AKo for me :) Not only is this simply the better of the two hands statistically speaking, but I also like the fact that if none of us hit our cards, then my kicker is better :D

+1 Same thinking here too

Math for my opinion calculated for me ;)

I like the Kenny Rogers, The Gambler reference. The song lyrics are correct as well; "every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser" because AK (suited or not) is still just Ace-high if it misses. Again though, I'd rather miss with AKo than KQs because in this scenario, my Ace-kicker is best :)

I would prefer the AK. KQs likely has a better ceiling (flush), but it is going to take more luck to win, whereas you will likely be leading in any flop with an A or K with the AK.
