Advice on a book

Hey guys,

So I want to invest some money in at least one poker book. I'm looking for a book that isn't going to talk "over my head" so to speak and yet is going to be packed with useful information on how to become a "black belt in poker" so to speak. Specifically for either tournament play or micro cash tables.

Spend the money on a month's subscription to a coaching site and watch/download as many videos as you can.

IMO, it's infinitely more useful to see situations actually playing out and discussed, rather than conceptual ideas printed on a page.

I'd also recommend No-Limit Texas Hold'em for New Players by Tom Mcevoy and Brad Daugherty

Mental Game of poker.

More important that gameplay specific books.

Bet hands hard, call draws if you have correct odds, fold air - pretty much all you need to know about gameplay.

I'm still in the process of grinding my way out of 5NL...but I am grinding out of it! Here's what's helped me:

* Crushing the Microstakes by BlackRain79. This book is seriously the "to get" book for the micros. It's authored by the #1 micro player in the world (in terms of volume and winnings)
* Mental Game of Poker. My biggest leak was tilting, so this book is helping me out a lot. Check it out on audible and listen to it on your commute.

Actually, on Audible, they have a good collection of books on audio so if you commute a lot you can just get a membership there and get a book or two a month.

I've started reading Little green book while ago since someone here on CC recommended it to me.... I'm half way through the book and I can't thank you guys enough for suggestion. The book is easy to follow and also entertaining. The way it's written often makes me smile,too.

I felt the same too, ill read it again after some time, it is a really fast and easy reading...

Now im reading Jonh A book, it is also really helpful, am at notes part right now, it is really eye opening... Recommended !!!!!!

I dont know is books is the best way to learn poker.
I learned play with years of practice and whatcing live tournaments on TV.

for any beginner start with harrington on holdem, learn the basic theories of poker .. play poker and apply dans knowledge into your game than after a couple months.. i would recommend winning tournaments one hand at a time by pearljammer,rizen,apestyles thats a great book but should be read after learning the game.
