It depends on where and with whom you play. If in the campaign of friends, then it's not a sin to drink, but if in a casino or a closed poker club I think that it's not reasonable to drink

Casinos know very well the effect of alcohol and gambling. Particularly if I play for profit I do not take, if I play to share with friends without caring if I win or lose if I take my drinks .

Personally I did not win any tournament under alcohol, maximum top prize places, alcohol promotes aggressive poker. Well, of course, depending on how much alcohol to drink, as they drink in Russia, it's better not to start. Good luck to everyone in drunken poker

For me I can't do mental math well after a few beers, but I love to play buzzed at home games or easy going private games. Drinking and a tight solid EV based strategy usually don't mix well.

I know one truth! Alcohol and poker are incompatible things! Drinking alcohol during the game is certainly losing, because playing under the influence of alcohol, we think that we are very cool players and in fact quite the opposite!

I have found that drinking while I play significantly worsens my play. I tend to play much more aggressive. Additionally, I tend to have stronger tells when I'm playing. It is not a good strategy for me, but I can see how it helps others. I also don't let the fact that someone is drinking change my image of the person. I try to use their gameplay only. Also, I have found that that there is a certain threshold for drinking in performance in pretty much everything. The first couple drinks, depending on your tolerance, will allow you to think more creatively and open minded. However, this is unsustainable for a long period of time. Therefore I can see alcohol being a benefit in short, sit&gos, but a bad idea if you are planning to play for several hours.
