Back to the Grind: Dealer Life Post-Covid Is Brutal

Hey everyone. I’ve been off the forum for a while—was working as a dealer again after a five-year break due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, what I came back to was shocking. The industry seems to have taken a serious hit: club owners exploiting staff, slashing pay when dealers perform well, coercion, threats against anyone who speaks up… It’s wild.

I’ve got 11 years of experience and had never seen this level of dysfunction concentrated in one place. After just a month, I walked away and I’m heading back to the online grind.

Curious—have any of you dealt post-COVID and faced this kind of toxic environment?

Interesting to know all that. As with all other jobs, when you depend on one source of income, your situation can become precarious, depending on how that industry is doing or how you get along with your boss. So you need multiple sources of income, in case you lose one of your jobs. There's a guy in Vegas who's a poker dealer and makes Youtube videos about dealing poker in Vegas- it's called '' Vegas poker nomad''. You can do that and in 1-2-3 years you can have a revenue from that. Everybody has a cellphone, you just learn how to edit videos. You have a Brazilian flag, do you live in Brazil? You can make Youtube videos about visiting your city. Even if you had a fancy job, like an investment banker or portfolio manager, in a few years AI will replace those jobs. They might need to become plumbers or electricians, to pay the bills.
