Bad Beat Jackpots

Is it really worth playing the bad beat jackpot ????
Ive played that it most of the times and spent alot of money (not a fortune) and never come close to it......is it worth hanging around the tables and wait or not ?
It takes money to make money but am i better off playing in tourny's and place or hang out on the "bad beat jackpoot" tables ????

I prefer tournaments because their success depends more on your skill and ability to study Bad Beat Jackpot now depend more on luck, and i definitely do not walk having much luck these days ...

I would only play at bad beat tables if it was offered at a table with my normal limits. If you are a normal ring game player and it is offered at your limits, I guess its worth a shot. Don't hold your breath on winning though.

The requirements for one of those bad beats to happen is pretty ridiculous... 4 players need to have entered the pot and there can only be 2 remaining at the end. You have to have at least quad 7's and be beat by a better hand. I don't think I have ever seen that happen myself.

Plus, don't you have to pay more in rake at the bad beat tables?

Yeah it's seems ridiculously hard to actually win one. At the Gold Strike a couple yrs back I came really close to winning one. Was spewing around at a 4/8 limit game a little tipsy lol, had 2h9h raised preflop got a couple callers. Board came QhJh8c 10h Kh all with a round of betting. The lady I was playing against had AhKc but since my 2h didn't play to the straight flush it didn't count, whatever that means lol. I guess if I had 7h9h instead it would of counted that's the way I understood it at the time. Anyways pretty sickening that not only did I lose about 100$ in that pot but then everyone at the table including the dealer just had to tell me how close I came to winning 18k lol.

You should only play in the bad beat jackpot tables if your bankroll permits you to play at those stakes and you plan on turning a profit through consistent good play at that level. You should not play there solely to try and hit the jackpot because more times then not you will not be at the table when it occurs. It should just be a side perk which is a long shot.

Bad Beat Jackpots are bad for much any player. They're basically the equivalent of a lotteyr, and lots of rooms take extortionate "admin" fees out of the amount that goes into the BBJ too.

when the bbj gets large it tends to draw more recreational players and your win rate may go up, in the "old days" on Absolute once the jackpot got near a million the number on non-regs really increased

I haven't played online in such a long time, and actually never with a BBJ, but I'll give my opinion based on my local live game. They take a rake EVERY SINGLE POT for all their promotions. Assuming they have just 5-6 tables running and rake just 15 pots an hour, they're making at least 100/hr based on the blinds. Let's just say 2 grand a weekday and 3 grand Fri/Sat/Sun. Their BBJ is 2k, and I would say they give away maybe 2k in other promotions. Not a good deal...but what can you do without PStars
