Chris Ferguson Challenge

If you haven't read his bankroll management challenge...I would suggest you do. He has very strict guidelines for increasing your bankroll at very little risk of going broke quick! Playing for real money is a whole new ballgame and since you've only been at it a month...I think it would be best to have some sort of a game plan and stick to it....I hope that helps you out....GL!:icon_sant :icon_bigs

Agreed, I would also play these and see if you can pay for them by winning a couple of heads up $1.10 games.:icon_bigs

I say forget the freerolls. They are pretty much a waste of time unless you just want to practice.

I'd play .01/.02 cash tables and play very tight. Only premium starting hands.
If you have AK and raise preflop and you get multiple callers and a flop like 8TJ or similar comes out and one of your opponents bets. I'd fold and wait for spots where you are sure you are ahead in the hand. Don't take any chances until you get your bankroll up. You can play like a nit all day at the micro stakes tables and most players will still pay you off.

This is pretty much how I created my bankroll when I first started, and I have never went broke yet or deposited any of my own money.

yea im not anywhere new to poker. Just want to see if I can do it the hard way without depositing.

And yes I have seen the video of ferguson explaining bankroll management.

$10 on a bankroll... you can do it.

Hey, I have gone from $10 to $350... it can be done, but knowing how to get there is key...

1) don't disregard playing the Freerolls, after all it's FREE MONEY, if you don't win it, someone else will... and it's always good to keep adding to your bankroll... with out risking your own money.

2) You got to play the Micro Stakes, am talking $0.01/$0.02... but find the game that is right for you, such as hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, STUD, RAZZ... I find that if you master a game such as STUD or RAZZ, you could bank it hard from players that aren't good at the game.

3) Try to do some bankroll management... don't put at risk your money, cuz your going on TILT... if you got $10, I would only play at a cash game with $1... and play the $1 tournaments or less... such as the $0.25+$0.05 sats, and the $0.10 tourney.

and most of all, patience... you will build it up slowly but surely ;-)

good post. Thanks I appreciate this input. Im sure there is much better sites for freerolls aside from Full Tilt. But I just like the Full Tilt layout.

It depends on what you really want to do.
I know that if I were you, I would prefer to have a bigger bankroll than $10.

Also it depends if you are an experienced player or not. If you've just started, you should keep playing a lot of freerolls and read some strategy articles or books in order to improve your game.

But if you really want to play CG, you should stick on the micro stakes games as other people suggest you

Retro

I started over 2 years ago playing FreeRolls on FT. It took several months for me to even cash in one of them but I did.
I then took that money and played EXTREMELY tight on the micro tables and I am still grinding it out with FT's money.
I have never deposited, made it into triple figures several times and have withdrawn some.
I am now in the process of getting a rakeback deal.

Remember, CC has some great FR's as well, stay active on the site and you'll get your invitation to them as well.

I took 3rd in yesterday's CC FT freeroll.

So if you are willing to grind it out, watch the BRM, you can do it.

I am not living off my Poker money, but still playing.

Freerolls a waste of time imo.
They have like 10000 people in, and the blinds go up so fast theres no time to play decent poker.
Just deposit $100 and play in the micros and you will learn far more and progress much faster as a player.

right on!! yea thats the goal, just play any freerolls I see and try to cash, until bankroll is decent enoug to buy in some very low stake games. thanks for the input!!

First, congradulations on your winning bankroll from nothing. Great job.!!Lots of good comments and suggesstions here. I would continue to play the free rolls and play some micro limit hold em for awhile until you get the bankroll up a bit more. Also check out Furgesons article at full tilt and absorb what he is saying about bankroll management becasue once its gone...it's gone...Good luck in your endevors

I've never played those freerolls, they seem like a breeding ground for donkeys. I would always play the highest stakes that your BR allows. $1 SNGs would be tough with $10 in your BR. If you can afford it deposit $20 and live a happy life playing low dollar SNGs and work your way up to the bigger ones.

CC has nice freerolls, as do some other sites. The FT Forum holds a nightly 10 cent tourney -- not hard to find the pw over on their boards. Look around. And keep posting here-- once you get enough substantive posts, you can do the CC freerolls.

I applaud your goal of building a bankroll from nothing. Takes more patience than I have, I think. Gains of 10 cents here, 10 cents there, don't do enough for me -- although I seem to be happy enough with a buck here and there. Realistically, not much difference.

take a shot, play a 6.25 9 man sng, no point in grinding 10.00 just go for it.
Try a staking site easy to get staked for a couple of bucks.
