Serves him right

Have you ever seen anything like that on live poker near you?

Unfortunately this person probably will try that again. I wish they would publish his name and picture. He should have been charged legally for theft if they had him on camera doing it. If he had tried to steal a stick of chips from the roulette table they would have charged him because he was stealing from the casino itself.

And as for seeing it live near myself, unfortunately I have. I have seen players steal from the "house" at a vegas night and also players lift chips from other players. They usually try to take smaller quantities of chips in tournaments so it is not so obvious to the player that returns to the table. I haven't actually seen the theft of chips by players but know that is occurs.

With the technolgy of today I'm sure Harrah's will send facial recognition around the country (maybe even world), and it will be hard for him to get in a casino.

As far as charging him that could be tricky. Since this was a tournament that had not yet reached the money, the guy didn't stael anything of value in the legal sense. If this were a cash game, then yes, that has real money value. A tournament chip is really worthless as far as real world value, so trying to convict on that would be pretty hard.

Seriously. But if you win 7, you can do what you want I guess.

What a bunch of ish!

I've had my chips taken in the past on a couple of occasions when we went on smoke breaks in live games (games @ friends houses, not the casino).

I never used to count my chips @ the tbl before those episodes happened but now I count them every time :top:

His punishment is exemplary but I have seen many complaints of players in different occasions who acccused others of thivery or misconduct but unfortunately for them the images from cameras weren't so clear to prove the accusations.

it is very important to count chips before each break.....

i made a mistake during a WPT mega sat which when reading this post made me realise how i could have easily been kicked out for the same reason. tables broke one hand before the break and we went from 3 tables to 2.

a new player sat to my right for one hand. i won a big pot on the last hand and we went on break. when we came back the new guy to my right was late... now i don't know if we had placed our chips near to each other or if i had absent mindedly just picked up his stack, but i didn't count my chips after winning the last pot so didn't notice that i had too many chips, especially when the late guy had a small stack. we were 2 or 3 hands into the new level when he returned and found no chips. i almost instantly announced that i may have added his chips to mine.. it really was an honest mistake.

the floor was called and we had to separate chips.... now the guy also wasn't sure of his chip stack.... so he had to make a rough guess. he offered a range so i gave him the top of his estimated range... and felt shitty for about the next hour....

verrrry important for players to always count chips!!!

i think we also had a dealer change on the break just to make matters worse!!

haha sucks for him, if i got banned from any casino or the wsop i would at least want it to be a cooler story than "i tried to steal some chips" it be so much cooler to be kicked out for getting too drunk and going streaking throughout the place or something

What an idiot. That's greed at its finest right there. I'm sure a few people had a "word" with him out in the parking lot.

I saw a guy steal a $1 chip at a Stud cash table one time. A guy raked a pot in, and a chip slid back between him and the thief. The winner didn't see the chip, and the thief the next hand after making a bet pinkied the chip into his stack. I saw it and looked at the dealer, who saw it too but nodded me off. Turns out the thief was such a lousy player and low on chips that the dealer figured the thief would lose all his chips to that guy later anyway, which he did. I talked to that dealer about it later as we were both leaving the casino, and he suggested that what happened wasn't that uncommon, that the old farts there are known to pinch a chip off each other now and then.

I'd guess they treat his stack as if he's absent and just keep blinding him off

Don't get me wrong, it's horrible to steal someone's anything, but I thought poker is a game of, and for outlaws. It's too bad he was banned for bringing out the true spirit of the tournament. ahhahaha. I guess if it was the old west he would have been shot, lost a few fingers, or something, so I suppose he got off easy.
