bb/100 and tournaments

I exclusively play single table tournaments. Does bb/100 have any significance there or is this solely relevant for cash games ?

No, bb/100 isn't really relevant in tournaments. Instead you'd be looking at your ROI.

And for sake of reference, ROI = Net Winnings/Total Buy-in x 100

Net Winnings = Total Winnings - Total Buy-in
Total Buy-in = Buy-in + Entry Fee


So, if you play in a $10+1 tourney and cash for $74, then
Total Buy-in = $10 + $1 = $11
Net Winnings = $74 - $11 = $63
ROI = $63/$11 x 100 = 572% ROI

If for that same game you barely cashed for $14, then
Total Buy-in = $10 + $1 = $11
Net Winnings = $14 - $11 = $3
ROI = $3/$11 x 100 = 27% ROI

I know tournaments are about ROI%, I was just wondering if the bb/100 statistics say anything about level of play (even if it's just chips and no hard cash).

In that case the simple answer is no, bb/100 in tournaments is irrelevant.

You'd have to have a super large sample of sng's to make any type of assumptions. But even then it's probably not worth it. By the time you get that super large sample, you can just look at your roi and know if you're doing well or not.
