Being a Jerk, or kind of Funny?

I was in a freeroll to get into a main event satellite and we were down to 54 players. Top 50 get into the main event satellite. I was top 3 in chips, could have been first still, but not sure. All I know is I had about 120k in chips and was in the big blind. (blinds were 1200-2400) It folded around to a guy in middle position who shoved with a stack a little under 12k. Now he could have folded his was into the top 50 since there were lots of shorter stacks, but he decided to shove on the guy who had over 3X as many chips as anyone else at the table. So since I was in absolutely no danger of not making it even if I lost 12k 5 hands in row, and I was happy to try and end the toruney a little quicker....I called....with a 7-4os. Needless to say I hit a 7 and knocked him out. A few obscenities were uttered.

So...was this:

A) Funny
B) Evidence that I am a jerk
C) Just dumb

No problems with trying to end the tourney a little earlier when the shoving stack puts you in no danger of not getting your seat. Standard satellite play.

Perfectly fine play, IMO.

Fine play by you but a stupid play by the other guy.

What did he have that your 7/4 beat?

You were just trying to knock some people out to get to the Top 50 quicker.. somebody has to knock out some people.. why not you?

Was a donk shove if he could have sat to ITM.

I never really considered that many would consider it a standard call (makese sense though), don't really play that many satellites and when I do I'm usually one of the people who scrapes in if anything.

The other guy had A-J. I might have actually felt bad if he had AA or KK and I had beat him.

Funny. Standard call in your position. The other guy made the mistake.

I would consider it my responsiblity as the big stack to call that with ATC.

That was a donk shove. Finish 50th or 1st and you are in the main event satellite. What was he hoping to accomplish? You might have folded to a smaller raise. lol

His problem with his shove, would have done the same as you did.

I would have done the same thing. I think that he made a bad play by shoving.
