Everybody should write who they think are the best overall poker players right now. Here are mine.

2. Jason Mercier

I think Ivey is "the best" in general, but some of the younger guys (durr, Mercier, etc.) have to be technically better in NLHE. Ivey has all the intangibles, and kind of a winning spirit about him. I think long-term though he won't really be regarded as the best anymore, unless he works really, really hard.

If we are just talking NL Holdem,, I have to go with Phil Hellmuth,, now overall I'm not sure about that one. Maybe Ivey or Mercier.

I understand that Phil Helmuth is a great player but I think that Phil Ivey is better because he plays a limited amount of tournaments and mostly sticks to high stakes cash games. If Phil Ivey would play more tournaments I think he would have better results than Phil Helmuth.

V. Selbst is a beast. She has to have a set of balls on her..I watch so many moves from her and I just said to myself no way...Phil H. is a favorite of mine also. I have to say he dont bitch like he use to.

Then a really big gap.

Then it depends on which game you're talking about. High stakes mixed games, probably Barry Greenstein or Jennifer Harman. High stakes NLHE/PLO, Dwan and Galfond. Hellmuth and his white magic do well in live large-field donkaments. Shrug.

Lol ok so this is the best players right now correct? no offense to chan but he is not a top 5 player right now cause I'm pretty sure he hardly plays anymore but maybe I'm wrong. My list is based on overall not just tournys

I'd have to disagree - Antonio needs to be up there before Merson. Long track record of big wins, both cash and tourney.
