I'll also avoid sitting in a seat if there's some short stacker on my left, as I hate making implied odds calls only to have them shove on me and ruin my odds.

Now, exclusively at a live table, you may want to sit in a different spot according to what you can see.  With oval tables some seats offer better views of the other players.
At some family games they used long rectangular tables (Hershey Bar shaped) so sitting on an end was a big advantage.

Where I play live they'll play the ball game on a projector, which is a distraction I don't need, so I prefer to sit with my back to it.
