How is this ^ different from tournament play? I mean isn't this also true for tournament play?

Which ever you choose my advice is avoid the the big sites.
The players on the large sites rely on volume hands and are usually skillful grinders.
The smaller sites with less players, offer more unskilled opponents.

Myself, to put it bluntly, I suck at cash games. So I'm just a tournament player. I really think it has to do a lot to do with the personality of a player as to which choice that person might do better.

Cash is a hard road, though MTTs arent a walk in the park either. I give the old answer Live for cash and Online for MTTs

Tournaments are a big rush when you get a big score. Cash is just a big old grind to make any monies.

Depends on how much time I have. The thing that I dislike about tournaments as opposed to cash games is that tournaments seem eventually end up with someone going all-in every single hand. You stop playing poker and start flipping coins. No fun in that.

I have to admit I love tourneys, and thanks to Colin and Katie with their course and of course Cards Chat, I now play even more free-rolls and finish in the money most of the time.
Last night I ended up on the final table cashing out and tonight I have just won an $11.00 ticket to another Bounty Builder Tourney on Pokerstars.
I play a lot of Sit and Go's during the day and even in those I have progressed and win quite often, and even on a single 9 player table you do get to a point where there is a lot of shove all-in, it is all part of the game.
Cash games also get to a point where an All-in shove is the best course of action, once I was in a cash game where we had one player who would raise 7 or 8 time's the blind just to steal the blinds so I waited and folded until I had a monster hand and shoved over the top of him. He was so cocky he always called with any 2 cards and I made a small fortune off him.

Which is better cash or tournaments

Cash games you can win and run with the money, tournaments take a lot of patients.

Prefer small tourneys with less than 200 players can make some good money and they don;t last for tons of hours.

I enjoy cash more, you can start and stop whenever you please, you're not obligated to stay at the tables. In cash you can actually play poker since you're generally 100+bb deep and not 20bb or less having to play play small ball or push fold. To each their own.

You need many hours to finish a tournament. That is not the case with cash games, you can play them whenever you have free time.

I think that there is a lot of pros and cons... In cash games you can leave whenever you want, with the money you got, and it doesn't matter if you started from de begin of the game or not, the blind will always be the same. In tournaments you can gain much more money in a roll with less risk, but it's harder to get profit, like, or you are in the money, or not. They take time, but you got to know whom you are playing versus... Anyway, there is a lot more for say

I prefer playing tournaments. I believe that you need a good (big) bankroll to play for money. Only then can you play cash games.

Tournaments are less recompensating in the short term, but in the long term it is similar or better.
Cash is better for a set routine.
I've seen many mtt players transitioning to cash because they couldnt make 12+ hours sessions anymore.
