betting pattern tells

I was looking for something on online tells and more specifically betting patterns. Does anyone know of a book or an online article. What brings this on is a situation I ran into. I had picked up middle pair on the flop and made a minimum bet and got called by one. Turn didn't improve anything and I made minimum bet and got called again and the same on the river except instead of getting called I got raised and I promptly folded. I am sure my timid betting led to loss. The next opportunity I got to reverse the roles and do this to someone else, they folded. So I am curious if there are some general rules about betting pattern tells and where to find them. I did do a search of the forum and got many hits but nothing I saw was specifically what I was looking for.
