Briliant hand from Durrr

Amazing.

Though I see nothing particularly "brilliant" in Durrr's play here. What I DO see is a terrible play on the part of the other guy who did something I have kicked myself for many times. He slowplayed AA and got pissed when he saw a dangerous flop and tried to "fix" it by shoving. Durrr got lucky as hell.

It's fascinating to see that basic a mistake happening at that high a stakes.

pretty sickening, that other guy seems like a nobody, so imagin losing that much onAA to 7 3...and ppl complain everyday about losing AA to someone...this will make them feel better

Slowplay? He 3-bet preflop and got it in on the flop. Durrr's play wasn't standard, but is not horrible considering how deep they were playing. He's got position and patatino's range is pretty big.

what are you talking about? the guy with AA didn't slowplay. he 3bet very large, then c-bet flop and called off the rest vs. a wild and aggressive player's shove. he played it completely standardly. durrr's preflop line was obviously non-standard, but he does a lot of that

It wasn't that much of a brilliant play, he flopped two pair and the other guy had aces, that's pretty much a situation you can't get away from. I actually think it was more like a donkey call at the flop, but he catched two pairs, and it got payed off.

When I saw this I thought for some reason the blinds were 2k/4k. 8k at 400 is indeed not slowplaying.

Still, bottom line after the flop that guy calling all in with only top pair is terrible, and quite a boon for Durrr.

sorry, but you're still wrong. these games (and durrr especially) play very aggressively. it's a fistpump call when durrr pushes. he would easily do the same thing with a pair + straight draw, flush draws, maybe weaker overpairs. money is relative. an amount that would be a very large salary to you or me is just a buy-in to them, and they play accordingly

i should add though that his flop bet size to begin with was pretty silly imo. i'm not advocating that, but once he did it, he was getting good odds to call the rest

You and I are gonna see this play differently.

I understand high stakes internet poker is mega aggressive.

But my opinion has NOTHING to do with the stakes. Patatino made a bad decision after the flop. I've watched Durrr play. And I know he does crazy things... but I don't think hes going all in against THAT guy with a just a pair when we all know HE knows Patatino has an overpair.

The board held an real straight possibility and a flush draw. But more than this Durrr went ALL IN against a known weak player post flop. Patatino made a giant mistake. I am not talking "in restrospect" I mean on the flop. He just couldn't let the aces go. It's easy enough to do... I've done it. You have too.

The WHOLE REASON Durrr played those cards was in the hopes he would be able to exploit THAT player in exactly THAT way. IMHO therein lies the actual genius.

I don't mind disagreeing with you. And it's nice to meet.

u havent seen durrrr play if u think he wouldnt stack with less than AA, he is capable of shoving there with A7 and other drawy hands

There was no slow play by the dude with the AA. Durrrr likes to do that alot (see flops with junk) and if he hits then he gets payed off in a big way like you just saw.......

That hand totally sucked for patitino. lol. Durr took a bit of a risk playing that hand, but hey, hes got so much money in the bank. Thats just a tough hand for the fellow with the Aces. It hurts my eyes to watch that hand. There was so much money at that table... FRIGGIN RICH PEOPLE! lol

only a donkey would call him a donkey for that play. First, I'm sure he figures him for a large pair. second, the preflop bet was around 5 percent of his stack, so thats not that bad, and after flopping a small 2 pair tries to push him off and gets a great payoff from someone who couldnt fold his aces, and in the other one against Ivey, the same thing he flopped 2 pair, and just got unlucky cause Phil flopped a bigger 2 pr. It was a risky play but not a donkey play. A donkey would call down to the river with 3 7 against AK and just get lucky with a river 3 or something.

Anyone wanna bet that if that hand was shown on TV, the commentators would have said, a typical call from an online player?. Secondly, if the hand was not sooooted, would he have called? I doubt it. Brilliant? no, an online player bet that got paid off? yes. I'm not putting online players down, just advocating the way the game has changed sinced the advent of the online game. Hands up those who would have called him a donkey for making the call,,,,,,,,tell the truth.

Your comments are based on 'hands' and don't take into account the real factors like 'stack size' vis a vis 'reads'....

Sorry, but anyone who just thinks "zomg he haz 73soooded wat a donk" is simply either missing the point or oblivious to the real concerns of deepstack NL games...

I still say what Durrr did was loose up front (fine/whatever we know that's his game) and the rest was all patitino. HE was the one making the wrong call. Though a gifted maniac like Durrr has set the stage for the half aware player (who can beat all his friends and thinks he is badass enough) to make a mistake at just the right time by whittling down his defenses for just a moment as this.
