Not a huge difference, you should put $1.200.000 for 2nd and $550.000 for first. Then I would choose the money prize. :)

I would never exchange 55K for a braclet, lol. It's like exchanging a nice car for a small bracelet. Also to be a bracelet holder people will notice your move closely and it's not a good news.

Is the bracelet gold? 14k, 18k, diamonds? value of bracelet? For only a a 50k difference I think the prestige of being a bracelet winner, plus the added value that it could bring ie. invitations to play in other tourneys, appearance fee's, comps, product endorsement fees, would easily out weight the value of the extra 50k for second place.

So I think 1st and the bracelet would be a no brainier.

I love the game and its always nice to win or come in the money as far as glory or cash either is a great feeling but when I play I play for enjoyment that way you don't get so stressed out and if I get stressed out that's not good for my health at my age

This seems like and easy question to answer if you have never played in a bracelet event. If you have played in a wsop bracelet event you would know it takes days of playing poker just to make it into the money let alone win one of these events. There fields of players is in the thousands. I played and cashed in a WSOP bracelet event, it wasn't as easy as you think. Just making it threw day one was super hard, then comes day two where you get into the money. My answer is the bracelet, with all the long hours you put into winning a WSOP bracelet event. Not to mention the tittle of being called a world champion.

I do not like the poll or question the money is too close and is too big.

Now would rather win a bracelet and 20000 say or win 100000 is a pretty simple question?

20000 will not last long but 100k maybe a couple years.

If it was an easy question with an obvious answer, would it even be interesting to ask?

also, you are not required to respond to threads you do not like.

Why do you play; cash, glory or a combination of both?

Would you rather win 2nd place in a large field Bracelet event for a total cash of $455,000 or would you rather win 1st place in a smaller Bracelet event for a total cash of $400,000 plus a bracelet?

Seems like for that small a difference in payout, you could more than make up the money marketing the bracelet win.

It depends. If i would have large bankroll, i would choose a bracelet. Not for glory, but to have a sense of acomplishment.
Riht now i would choose money of course :)

Ask Phil Ivey, Daniel negreanu, Phil hellmuth etc if they would rather have a bracelet...

It us far from an absurd preference...

I'd rather go for a bracelet and a slightly smaller cash prize. $55K isn't that much of a difference, especially when you consider all of the other things that can potentially come along with winning 1st place. People like winners, they like to associate with winners, and it's the winners that are usually offered sponserships, deals, promotions, etc that'll probably be worth way more than the $55K you gave up. Not saying that 2nd place is bad and they aren't worthy of such rewards as well, but from a business point of you, I think most companies looking to sponser a player is looking to sponser the best of the best.

Since you gave the option of a combination of both, if I were in that situation, I'd probably try to make a deal of splitting the prize money 50-50, so we're both playing for $427.5K each and the bracelet itself goes to 1st place.

there are more replies in this thread than votes. Don't forget to vote in the poll at the top of the page!!

I purposely set the dollar amounts kind of close to make the decision tougher. Obviously I think any of us would take a $800,000 2nd place over a $400,000 first place! :)

I think for me the cut-off comes around $100,000. If the pay out for 2nd place is $100,000 more then I'd prefer the cash. But less than that and I'd prefer the bracelet. But I am very competitive and play almost exclusively for the sport of it....

so then is not about glory, you only want to sacrifice like 10% of the money for a bracelet, and dont forget the bracelet itself has a value so the poll itself is a breakeven with respect of the monetary value of both options,

the real poll should go: the bracelet or the 10 millions!!! and here the bracelet will get zero votes! so at the end nobody plays for the bracelet not even the socalled big names, it´s all about the money!
