I was wondering if anyone has insights on how to spot cheating in live non casino games? I play free poker in bars so you may think "why would someone cheat?" For some winning anything is an ego builder.

I've be told that W, X and Y cheat and it's my guess that Z cheats also. W was recently in the pen which I've heard is scam school central.

I'd like to be able to head it off at the pass rather than confront anyone. Needless to say I don't control the resources, the cards, a fresh deck request isn't an option.

I've tried to keep my eyes open but the only thing I've noticed is them winning a lot with good cards on their deal. Two pair seems to be a given for them.
W also seems to enjoy making a display of guessing cards usually low cards.

I know about bent cards. I can't really spot them, I guess I could learn. But I would like to be able to spot them and disable their message since a fresh deck isn't "in the cards."

"First, anyone caught cheating in a Free Tournament is a loser..."

If they're cheating at the wtp or free poker league the best thing to do is feel bad for them and get on with life, play at another bar.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if cheating was more common in free poker games than at actual cash games.

A) It's a free game, so the people running it would be less inclined to be actively looking for cheaters.
B) The cheaters would assume that there would be minimum repercussions if they were to be caught.

I think cheating is akin to stealing. There are a lot more shoplifters than carjackers, and there are probably a lot more cheaters at the micro tables and free games.

One pretty good clue is if you catch them peeking at your cards...
